I loved everything about this hostel! It was really homely and all the staff and guests were pretty damn awesome :) I wouldn't even bother to look elsewhere if I visit DC again! The staff here was great, and it seemed like a very social, fun place. The room was swelteringly hot, though (in late November with the window wide open). The lack of security was worrying... non-locking doorknobs and a "luggage area" that was just a stair landing where anyone could grab your bag and leave. There are lockers, but you have to buy a lock from them to actually get some security. Not cool.The staff here was great, and it seemed like a very social, fun place. DC Lofty was such a great experience. Jay and the rest of the staff were really awesome and made the stay much more enjoyable. The location and atmosphere of the hostel was excellent as well. Very good place to stay overnight. It's clean and the area is safe, short walk from the subway station, China Town, and the Center. The drawback are too many rules regarding taking-off the shoes, open- non-open the fridge, etc. We had to wait long time to check out - no one was around to do it.
