DC lofty is a nice place to stay if you want to visit Washington for a couple of days. It's very easy to walk from there to all the museum and the White house. The staff is very nice and ready to help you. If I have to go back to Washington DC I will probably go back to this place.

The hostel was average. However, I wished I had payed a little more to stay in a more comfortable place. The mattresses were terrible, there were no curtains or anything to darken the room at night and the air-conditioning made a lot of noise (even though it was cold enough to do without air-co). The best features of the hostel are it's closeness to both the city center and to Dupont Circle and the cooking/refrigerator facilities.

I would highly recommend not staying there. When you arrive, first thing you have to do is take off your shoes. That would be ok if the place was clean&neat, however it's not. at all. The staff is unfriendly and impolite. The water in the shower was cold, the place is smelly, rather dirty (but dusty to the very least) and old. It definitely doesn't meet (Dutch) fire security standards. The location is good though, only 5 minutes walk from the convention center and subway.

They work hard with limited staff and lots of stairs to make this facility work and be an excellent value. I liked the global presence of visitors in the kitchen. The female dorm was fine. It was easy to shop for food nearby. It took me awhile to find my way around DC but thoroughly enjoyed the historical attractions. I am a senior and found that the younger members were just as tired from walking and stair climbing, particularly with luggage. Once settled, there was less of an issue.

The stay was overall ok, it's a nice quiet place. I think that they should change he door codes more often - the front door code was the same as last year, so many people can come in. Also, the luggage storage room was not locked at all. If it wasn't for these flaws in security, would recommend this place to my friends.

As a solo female traveller safety and cleanliness are what I look for in a Hostel - and this one delivered on both!! The no-shoe-inside policy meant it was very clean, and the bathroom was clean. Didn't use the kitchen but it looked clean! There are security code panels at the entrance and for each room with lockers available (bring your own padlock). I felt very safe It's an easy 20 minute walk to The Mall from the hostel which is in a okay neighbourhood. I would stay here again.

Dingy place. There was just one bathroom/shower for the entire floor, it seemed. No quiet place to read or work on the computer; both guest lounges have huge, loud TV's. Location is not bad but not entirely safe for people who don't know the area.

The place is getting updated while receiving guest. In my opinion that is fine but It was silly they asked us to take off our shoes to walk on a dirty and old carpet. I did not have a towel in my room and when I wanted to ask for one anybody was at the reception. For two nice the price was good, the bathroom was clean and the bedroom too.

Location seems a bit shabby in the first moment and not too secure, but this cozens. Quite close to the next metro and neighborhood people are really friendly, no matter which time. Hostels seems quite old at the first view with a rotten door, but says will get a new one. Rooms are greate. Facilities not really, pressure and warm water in the shower nearly non existent. Sometimes you get lucky and after a few minutes warm water comes out. Overall would definitely stay there again and recommend

It's quite old buildings, so I could hear footsteps all the time. The heat wasn't enough, kinda chilly at night.

The room was light and airy and spacious, the location was fine for me, however people who don't want to walk for 20 minutes into the Mall area may prefer somewhere closer.

Really nice hostel. Feels like a household rather than a business. Exceptional staff members who were very friendly and overall a very good atmosphere. Good kitchen facilities and nice powerful shower downstairs. Not far from a supermarket and a fairly central station on the metro network.

They were doing construction on the hostel while we were there (though it should be finsihed within a week), so the two buildings the comprise the property were not connected at the time which was a bit of a hassle, but I definitely would return here if I go back to DC.

It was a nice hostel, the facilities were very nice. The only annoying thing was that the kitchen is in one building and half of the bedrooms -including the one i´d stayed in- are in the other building, so you have to leave the hostel and enter the other "wing" and as you can´t wear shoes inside the hostel (dont worry, they lend you some slippers), is a pain if you wanna make a coffe late . Everything looked nice and clean.
