Was being renovated at the time we went. We should have known before going there was no kitchen at the moment, only fridges and a table in the livingroom, and the bathroom sink, no soap furnished, to clean dirty dishes used by others or stored in a box. Their no shoes politic is interesting but seemed awkward on a floor full of dust left from the contruction work. Smell of paint and toilet not flushing everytime. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Staff members in general, were friendly.

They were remodeling, so there was stuffeverywhere. LParking was pretty easy, but their lot was full and I had to park on the street. The room I stayed in had it's own bathroom, but no mirror. I did meet a maid, who was friendly, and seemed to be doing her job well. There was just paint and spackel on the carpets and floors. It'll probably be really nice in a year or so.

Withing walking distance of the White House, Capitol, Smithsonian... Security is far better than average - access code locks on each dorm, large lockers...

Cant recommend this hostel to anyone. Very unfriendly staff, didnt seem to care at all. If you have any qustions, be prepared to get the answer "check google". Also very small hostel, had n where to relax except the bed. Might get better when the renovation is done, but doesnt really matter if they dont get some new staff.

The hostel was still in repairs and everything was a mess. The bath had no curtains, the floor was totally dirty because of the painting (and I was supposed to walk without shoes!) and the works started at 7 a.m next to my bedroom. I paid for an ensuite room but there was no bathroom at my place, and I have to go 3 floors downstairs. There´s no place to cook either.

Even though the hostel is under construction, I had an awesome stay. The staff is super friendly and helpful, my room was very spacious and my bed was really comfortable. The location was great, right by the metro so i could get where I needed in a timely fashion and the price was super affordable!! I would definitely stay here every time I visit DC!! I can't wait to see the finished product :)

I booked beds in the Standard 8 Bed Mixed Dorm Ensuite for my friends and me. They were doing renovations there, which I was not informed about. Needless to say, the room was a mess. Paint chips on the carpet, no lock on the door, no locker, no bathroom in our area to use. I don\'t know how the other rooms are, but for the time being, I highly advise not booking beds in the room I stayed in. In general, I would say the staff is pretty friendly and the location is pretty good.

It was terrible. They didn't say to me they are under construction. And they don't give breakfast and I can't use a restroom that my room have because it was under construction. But I should paid the whole money what they wanted. It was same as before they do the construction. And this hostel was too old and messy. I never wanna go there again.

Just minimum service. The flooring is not clean. No kitchen. The hostel is under renovation that make the whole house not comfortable to stay. When I decide to leave, I am charged 50% of the rate for 2 more days even I am not staying.

Horrendous. They are in the middle of a major renovation; and think its ok to charge people for the privilege of staying in a building site. Most of the bathrooms were out of order, the whole place was filthy, and there are no lockers available for your valuables. The staff are incompetent, when being checked in the guy had no idea what room I was in, or what any of the door codes were. Post-renovation might be a different story, but for the foreseeable future avoid DC Lofty like the plague

hey there, When you were booking we did make everyone aware of the conditions on our website, and all of our affiliate sites, allowing folks to book for a ridiculously low price. Great for us and you, the renovations are finished and the place is amazing.

They were not quite done with renovations when I was there, but they were very friendly and accommodating, so i still loved it. Can't wait to come back and see what it will look like after all renovations are done.

In your specific situation, the rooms were 100% complete, and all we lacked was a kitchen - pictures were posted on our website! thanks

The hostel was still being renovated - there was a hole in the shower stall wall with some conduits exposed; occasionally your reverie was interrupted by drilling. Staff was mostly okay, but they weren't as spontaneusly friendly as the staff at other hostels I've visited. They asked us to take off our shoes as soon as we entered the house (apparently because of new carpeting) and walk around the mostly tiled floors in socks. Had I been forewarned (which I hadn't), I would have brought slippers.

hey there I do see you stayed before we were able to complete renovations, and were hustling to finish everything by the promised date of April 1st, 2012 as we have always posted...... I'm glad you did not have to sleep on the floor, and I'm sorry if anyone even thought of that as a viable option, as we did have an assigned new bed for you. Please be accurate that when you were staying, as everything was in "disorder", practically everything was finished, and we had a very large crew painting and touching up =) thanks

We were initially placed in a room being renovated: wires, dust, no bathroom nearby, no door locks. We asked staff to change rooms and they were very accommodating. We moved to a nicer room: passcode-secure doors, no bed bugs, clean enough. Bathroom was not terribly clean but functional, and we were lucky to be next to it b/c it was the only one on the floor. Location is good (ok neighborhood, close to the metro). They held our luggage 6h after checkout. A good stay for the price.

Construction delayed a few days, but every day huge leaps. The showers/bathrooms have just been turned on everywhere, and hot water as well, so now there are plenty of that. Staff set up nice free breakfast for the inconvenience, free wifi, floors and carpets getting installed - it's nice to get the brand new place experience, rather than staying at beat up hostel that's maybe all set up, but been there forever without no upgrades/remodels. All beds have outlets, and most have lights by bed too

It was worst. The hostel was still under constraction!!! All Internet information said it's rebuilt. So I choose it. I thought it's clean, but dirty! At night I arrived there, I couldn't believed my room and felt very scarliy because other rooms are heaps of rubbe and my room also have rubbles. No door and no hot water. There are carpenters at 22:30 and they were working until midnight. I felt vey scarily and noisy I couldn't sleep! Why I payed $40 for it. I never stay there. I waste monety!
