In DC for a concert at the 9:30 Club and we were able to walk to the venue from Lofty. Perfect location!

Absolutely loved my stay here! Cheap, convenient, friendly, super clean and a few extra touches that you wouldnt expect in a hostel- great living areas! No shoes is a bit tough given the two buildings but at least means the place stays spotless.

The hostel was very good and well located (about half a hour away on foot from the National Mall). The only problem was the reduced number of bathrooms

I found it fairly ridiculous that there was only one shower for three floors of people. Yes, everything is kept very clean, but it's next to impossible to use the facilities.

This was my first time in a hostel, and I really enjoyed DC Lofty. The bathrooms were very very clean, I was very happy with the amenities. I didn't use he lounges or entertainment area but people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The RAs were great. RA Tom was super awesome, funny, and very very helpful. Major props to him for helping me out! :) all around, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Great place to stay. I've been travelling lately around US and I have seen good and bad hostels. This one is a notch better than good. Staff is always there when you need them. Great location, I use a lot of public transport and had easy time finding. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, great atmosphere. What else would you need:)

Really nice hostel. Small, quiet and relaxed with a friendly vibe. A bit far from the major sights (about 20-30 mins walk) but close to a metro station, small supermarket and shops & restaurants a few blocks away. The only problem was with their 3 computers - either not working, or if they were they were SO slow and often crashed. The shoes-off policy is a bit of a pain but overall I had a really pleasant stay there & I doubt if you could find a nicer hostel in DC. Easy to meet other travellers.

The only thing i would ask for is more heat on cold days.

The water for the shower was cold to luke cold the entire time I stayed there. I asked the manager why the water was not hot, and he stated that the water in that room is not hot. I also feel that I was placed in the room with the cold shower because I booked the place 6 months prior to the Presidential Inauguration at the standard Hostel rate. However, just prior to the Inauguration when I called to confirm the rate, they were reluctant to give me the agreed upon rate. They finally did.

Good location - 29 mins walk from National Mall and the White House. Very secure. Parking costs $15 per day if you have a car.

The location is great! 5 minutes walk to the metro and close to U street and DuPont. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Diedra, makes sure everyone feels at home. The rooms and common are kept clean and the beds are comfortable. I stayed here for a while and would definitely be back. If youre looking for a laid back hostel where you can meet people but also have privacy this place is for you!

The staff were amazingly friendly and welcoming! The common room atmosphere at this place is just like a family home, with many regular travellers and the friendly live in staff being really inviting! I stayed there by myself and would happily do it again! If you're fit the walk is very doable to just about everything!

I really enjoyed my stay. Clean, good facilities and good use of space. I felt very comfortable during my stay. The no shoe policy was a little over kill, especially since you had to go outside for the kitchen since there was construction. I would recommend and stay here again.

Loved the bathroom! Just wish there was a time-limit or some order to people using it in the morning!
