I would not stay here again. The three shared bathrooms/showers were dirty. The bed was not comfortable and was slanted to one side. We were happy we only had one night here. On the other hand, the location was great within the walled city, near to restaurants and close to the train station.

Hostel inside of a very old building and in a perfect location. The kitchen was a bit shabby but cosy and convenient. Our room was really old and beautiful. Staff wasn't there most of the time and seemed pretty busy but still was helpful.

Perfect location just outside the walls that surround the center. Awesome rooms elegant old-fashioned style, bathrooms clean and service pretty kind. Cheap enough to be suggested to everyone who wants to enjoy this fabulous little city.

After receiving an email stating that reception would be closed between 1pm and 2pm we were careful to ensure that we arrived at 2pm. However when we got there we found a note on the door stating that someone would arrive at 4pm! The note had a phone number on it which we tried to call several times, but no one answered it. So we had to wait for 2 hours with all our luggage in 30degree heat until someone arrived to check us in. Instead of half a day in Lucca we ended up with just an evening.

This was a nice place to stay in the historic part of Lucca. The main piazzas and shopping areas are a walk, but no more than 10 minutes. The rooms were large and clean. The bed was not in anyway comfy, however. There were plenty of bathrooms for everyone and they had a kitchen that was open for use by everyone which was a nice feature. Some other travelers had a big issue with the check-in policy and arriving too late - they are firm on the policy and it is written in the directions section!

Beautiful guesthouse, lovely facilities and helpful staff. Our room was a little loud as it was next to the kitchen/bathrooms but all the other rooms were further away, and it wasn't a huge deal anyway.

A great little place to stay - as other reviews have said our room felt like a hotel not a hostel, and this is just what we were looking for for a chilled out couple of days before a friend's wedding elsewhere in Tuscany. There is a nice kitchen but we really wanted to eat out and tips from the English speaking staff helped us do that really nicely. Plenty of great delis around town, though, so if you prefer picnic style eating you'd have loads of room to prep.

Good location, very nice appartament, rustical and charmy, the only bad thing is that one day there were not hot water
