Completely unique experience. One of the best places I've stayed.
Good hospitality from the owner, joined-dinner was great to know new friends.
You must stay at this hostel. I can't begin to explain just how fantastic it is - you just have to witness it. If, like most, you are looking to meet fantastic people in an incredible family environment this is definitely the place to stay. The wonderful ladies who run this place welcome you with open arms (literally) and huge, delicious (cheap) home made meals made by the legend that is Mama. The girls will go out of their way to make your stay the best highlight on Vietnam. Not to be missed!

This was not at all what I expected. First, there were 40 people in this small house made for 20 maximum. In my room, which was supposed to have 6 people, they crammed 8 in because they overbooked. This meant 4 strangers actually were forced to share two double beds. I was lucky to not be one of them. Second, do not believe them when they say they have hot showers - or that they even have water. In 4 days, I was able to take 1 shower b/c they never had water. Needs some serious work.
This hostel has a great atmosphere! The family dinners are very welcoming and you get to know other backpackers. We went canyoning through the which was so much fun! Be warned, the beds upstairs are just mattresses on the floor. Bathrooms are limited and hot water runs out quickly, which was a bummer when 16 of us came back from a VERY fun, but cold day in the water. I would stay here again!
8 people are squashed into a room, where there should be max 4. No space between mattresses, so people kept stepping on my "bed" while I was trying to sleep, to get in/out of the room. You're lucky when you actually have a hot shower (or water pressure), and many other things wrong with this place. It would be still a sociable hostel if there would stay 2 times less people. You can find much better hostels in Dalat for the same price!
The staff there are fun, friendly and helpful. And this is a pretty nice place to meet new people. However, the female room is too crowded and no locker, the shower water is also not that stable.
Very nice hostel with nice owners and nice atmosphere
I love the atmosphere in here. I've been several guest house in the world, and the memories in here will be my best. They have dinner time every evening around 5:30. In valentine's day we played game, and It was so much fun. If somebody wants to make a friend and hang out, I would recommend to come here. I love you Anny!
Low frills hostel which more than compensates with it's charm and atmosphere. The communal dinners were a nice touch. Annie went out of her way to make sure everyone felt welcome and was enjoying their stay.
This Hostel is just amazing. The hole family is so friendly and helpfully. The dinner brings all guests together. You feel like home. They opened a new dorm for us, as we arrived and the house was full. Only thing. There are just two toilets and one shower for the hole house. And it's a bit away from city centre. I highly recommend this Family house.
you have to walk a long way down the vally, more than 10mins, and if you come back late in the evening, there is no light along the trace. actrully, this is local area..... and the room is toooooo small for such amount of beds.........
Brilliant hostel. Friendliest staff/family ever. Such beautiful people that welcome you like there your own.
This place is off the hook, really nice staff (and really crazy, especially mama). It feels like a family (doesn't it sounds cheesy?), all the other travellers get together at night and have dinner or go out for drinks. Really nice atmosphere!
Really nice place where you get the full experience of living with a vietnamese family. The dinner are excellent and the place is always packed with nice travelers to socialise with. Would stay there again.
I was taken up narrow metal stairs on the outside of the building, through a open area full of mattresses to ladder-like stairs to a painted attic strewn with more mattresses. We went into a room with six twin mattresses crammed so tightly it looked like three queen-sized. My "bed" was jammed in so far under the sloping ceiling that I'd only be able to sleep on half of it and wouldn't dream of sitting up. No lockers. No thanks. I left and found a real bed elsewhere. NOTHING like the reviews!
Dalat Family Hostel will make you feel like you're part of the family. It's run by "Mama" and her two daughters. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are clean, but the quarters are a little cramped. That's ok, because the family more than makes up for it with incredible love and helpfulness. kinda hard to find - it's down an alley in a neighborhood - just follow the pink Dalat Family Hostel signs.
I had an awesome time and meet some great people to continue my journey on. The owners are really nice and everyday everyone has dinner to together, its just a very basic accommodation. The upper dorms are simply matrasses on the floor and there is not always water etc. still for a few days it was a really nice experience
Good place to meet fellow backpapers and get a sense of living with a vietnamese family
Dorm rooms have too many beds and there is no space for bags and there are no lockers. Location is a bit further out than other places. Cold in the evening. Variable hot watwr. Dinner and atmosphere is great.
