We arrived at night and it took us 2.5hrs of walking up and down to find the place, intructions on how to get there are poor and despite being set several alleys off the main path, no signposts either. Staff very friendly and helpful though, but fairly basic.

Really nice staff. Hostel is a bit difficult to find at first, but they communicates with the taxi driver and came out and met us a few mins away and walked us there. A great location though. The owners helped me with my many problems I needed to sort out. They were very kind!

This was one of the best places I've ever stayed in my entire life. Although it's a touch hard to find at first, its distance from the tourist-logged main drag of Dali's ancient city affords a quiet that is almost impossible to come by in urbanized China. Lily herself is the picture of hospitality. She's a little bird of a woman, always flitting about in concern for some minor detail of her beautiful Bai-style guesthouse. I have not even the slightest of complaints. Lily's Garden Inn is great.

Stayed there when the main knowledgeable English/French/Chinese owner was away so had to deal with many issues while at the hostel. Room was nice but very cold cause NO A/C in the hostel!!!! During winter or low temperatures you'll have to sleep fully clothed under the covers! Bikes are provided and a great way to get around the Old City and getting to the "3 Pagodas". I would recommend staying there during spring, summer or fall cause the garden patio is quite charming.
