Overall I was happy with the hostel and would stay their again! You are pretty much paying for the location, right by the trainstation and right opposite the red light district. That being said the rooms were nice and clean but a little small is all, not bad at all. One problem was the stairs are very steep, and being on the top floor was a pain. Although having been in other hostels in Amsterdam many seem to have this problem.

Had no common room so it was kind of hard to meet people there. Helpful staff att the reception and the location is great, just 5 minutes from the train station.

The wifi does not work properly in the rooms, and the window of the room broke when we tried to open it.

The staff here were great - one of us needed to get a delivery and got it without hassle, which was hugely helpful. The rooms are wanting for plugs, lockers and decent WiFi, but are otherwise spacious and comfy. The third floor toilet didn't have a sink. The location is fantastic but be warned as on some nights this results in a hefty price tag.

The lady who introduced us to the Hostel was very friendly and helpful. The location is great, our room had good views and was in walking distance to the main streets, bars and the canals further out. Our room was mostly people who were in Amsterdam for drugs - some seemed to be on them - but I guess its Amsterdam after all.

Damhotel it's not the best hostel in the world but it's not that bad. The hostel is really close to the central station, and since Amsterdam it's a small city you can walk to everywhere. They don't have common area to hang out, neither kitchen. The rooms are clean and they give you towels, bedlinen and body gel, so one can complain about that. Most of the staff is really nice, except for a guy who is in the reception by night, he's a little bit rude.

I stayed in a 6 bed dorm for a few nights and the rooms are very tiny. No space for stuff, just beds. Toilet and shower were a joke. The shower and toilet very so small you can barely turn yourself around there. And no sinks to wash your hands in. Location is perfect and they give you clean towels everyday.

The place is dry and depressing. The rooms are ok but there are not enough plugs. The guy on the desk was just a drag and there is no communal area so you're forced out into the street. It's close to the station and they supply towels but apart from that it's bobbins.

Pretty run down place and very small but of course prime location so a huge price...could use some little touching up but has the basics and is a place to sleep and right by everything. Quiet suprisingly and felt safe. Would go back but would want to try another place first.

Stayed in a private room for 2. Location is on point! 3 minute walk to the central station and right next to the dam and red light district. Room was clean and bathroom even included towels and soap. Good experience overall. What I would change though is the description on the website to explain that the reception is on another building than many of the rooms which was a bit confusing but not a super big deal. A better sign outside the hostel with the name would also help.

Great location and comfortable stay. Rooms are small but hey, when in Amsterdam, you shouldn't be spending too much time in your room anyway. There is no lockers or safe spaces in the rooms for your luggage so I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the luggage storage room in reception that staff are always happy to let you into so you're never inconvenienced. Absolute prime location and cannot complain. The ensuite bathroom is a definite added bonus.

Security is a major issue. On the second morning I awoke to an intruder standing over me, watching me sleep while rolling a cigarette. We were on the 4th floor dorm. He promptly exited but not before stealing 2 smart phones and a tablet causing 2 dorm-guests to be late for their flights! Doesn’t help that the hostel is completely open to the public; no security pin to get in, the door is literally left open off the street, the patrons from the restaurant next door freely use the hostel toilets.

Cheapest room so we had rats outside our window. We thought at first it was people peeking thru our window cause we heard rustling sounds but then during the day we saw what was outside -trashbags and rats! Thankfully we only stayed two nights and were high during those nights cause otherwise I couldn't be able to sleep well knowing there are rodents less than ten feet away from my bed and suitcase. Hope none of them escaped in my suitcase! It was a last minute stay so I couldn't complain much

Clean rooms, amazing location.. No common room or any facilities, very expensive, no wifi in rooms.. Wouldn't say great value for money

Dam hotel is super close to the train station but it was difficult to find because it is combined with another hostel and it is under the other name on the street front. Our room was up four flights of crazy steep stairs. The rooms were nice but the hostel provides the bare minimum of necessities.

Very good place, great customer service, facilities are nice. For a hostel it is very good were the location is brilliant, staff support is very helpful and the rooms are in good condition. For a hostel its right up their as the best ones available in my opinion.

The best location for being handy to all that is Amsterdam! Had a twin room - worked out perfectly.

We booked a 6 bed dorm for a ridiculous price and was put in a 9 bed dorm, to Make matters worse they added a 10th bed on our last night and told us on the last day the reason why they did that, (dude to room problems) we also got a peasant refund, just hopeless. Dorm door didn't close proper, bathroom door lock didn't work properly and bunk beds are next level high where it's dangerous to get out of them, sort the hostel out if you continues to jack the price up.

I had to pay a lot for this room as it was a bank holiday weekend, and it was quite dirty and had no atmosphere. It is near the train station and right in town, so if location matters but not much else, stay here.

Location was great, but the rooms were too small for that many people
