Whole place needs a complete refurbish. Very basic and outdated place. Not a comfortable place to be in.

About Denton House

We are now taking bookings for the Christmas and New Year period.
* Please note for the 3 days over new year (30th,31st Dec and 1st Jan) we request a minimum 2 night stay.*

Denton House in Keswick is a purpose-built accommodation centre run by a friendly and experienced team of staff. We are ideally located for exploration of the Lake District National Park. Keswick town centre is a 10 minute walk away - the path runs alongside the River Greta.

The town has lots to offer people of all ages and interests, whether you're looking for a quiet coffee in a sunny café garden or a night of culture at the theatre by the lake. There are also multitudes of outdoor shops, pubs, restaurants and even a couple of nightclubs.

Denton House also operates as a licensed outdoor pursuits centre and we run regular days out for hostellers; climbing, canoeing, ghyll scrambling etc. Derwentwater is a short walk from the town centre, and the spectacular Borrowdale Valley can easily reached on foot, by launch or bus.

>Breakfast is not included (by popular demand!), but we have a cooked brekkie on most weekends for £3/person, and there's usually a fair stash of cereals in the 'Free food' boxes.
>Free tea and coffee is on 24 hours, and the dining room's always open.
>We have central heating through most of the rooms, and there is always hot water for showers etc.
>We've now got luggage lockers which are £2/go for a huuuge one or £1/go for a very big one.
>We cater for an epic range of customers: school, college and youth groups on activity holidays, overseas students, military training groups, cultural tours, hillwalkers, C2C cyclists, mountain bikers, paddlers, runners, corporate teambuilds, ecologists, climbers, fishermen, round the world explorers (honest!), backpackers and all kinds of random and interesting people. It may not just be backpackers!

Families please note: We're not suitable for littlies - 8 is usually our minimum age. We don't take children aged 8 to12 unless in a room exclusively booked for a family or youth group, and there will be large single sex groups using the centre on many weekends.

Groups please note; groups of more than 8 people must book entire dorms for sole use (e.g. not 10 beds in a 12 bed dorm). Contact the office directly if the dorm size you need is not available. (Everyone else please note: yes - we do allow single sex groups on weekends where we're providing outdoor activities for them!)

Rooms are ready from 4pm

We do not accept credit or debit cards so please pay in cash or by cheque.

and also... Dogs welcome!
