Upon arrival we were transfered to Hostel Vienna on 26 Mhmoud Bassiyuny Street 3 floor, Downtown Cairo. This was unerving but needn't have been as Ramadam (the boss) helped us plan and book our whole trip of Egypt. In a city that seems to want to just take your money the family of staff here are truely genuine and have gone out of their way to help us. We wouldn't hesitate to come back. Staff and location-UNBELIEVABLE. They are so caring, nice, and respectful. They make you feel like a queen/king. I felt like I was part of their family. Location couldn't be any better within walking distance (5-10 minutes) to Tahrir Aquare and Egyptian Museum. From there you take CTA bus for 2 LE to the Pyramids of Giza and they drop you off right in the front. Back to the hostel, bed was clean but bathroom could be a bit cleaner. However, it was still decent. Staff and location-UNBELIEVABLE. They are so caring, nice, and respectful. They make you feel like a queen/king. I felt like I was part of their family. The host are very friendly and the location is in the centre of the city.
But... the rooms are dirty. The badrooms were not cleaned during our stay and there were bedbugs in our sheets. Breakfast is poor and the elevator broke down several times. You can find much better for this price in Cairo. The host are very friendly and the location is in the centre of the city.

I have stayed multiple times at Desert Safary and its easily my preferred placed to stay in Cairo! Superb location. Fantastic bilingual staff. Really interesting crowd of people staying there every time I'm there. Modest breakfast provided. Tea and coffee graciously offered. Staff bends over backwards to make sure their guests get what they need. Can accommodate tours to Pyramids and other sites with little hassle, fair prices, and honest drivers. Go! Enjoy! Even though the cleanliness is lacking, I think it's mostly attributable to the age of the building. I know the managers are planning to replace the floor and do some updating. HOWEVER, even with that said, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Cairo. The guys who run this place are GREAT! They were very accommodating, helpful and wonderful people to meet. I'd stay there again!Even though the cleanliness is lacking, I think it's mostly attributable to the age of the building. I know the managers are planning to replace the floor and do some updating.
