Hostel is clean and safe but has no atmosphere when we were there, such a shame. We were unfortunate enough to get a room on the ground floor - DO NOT TAKE IT! It's so loud in the morning from 06:00 and the music is turned on at 08:00....not good when you've been out the night before. When I complained the staff did nothing about it. Find somewhere better to go with a better atmosphere.
PROS: Supportive staff; good location CONS: Room was not cleaned whatsoever nor was anything in the room (sheets, towels, etc.), the bathroom door locked itself from the inside many times, the shower water flow as well as its temperature were not constant at all. Sleeping was dreadful as mattress and pillow were hard, there were loud parties and people shouting throughout the nights; there was even a private party underway which prevented us from using the kitchen for more than 30 minutes.
My first hostel in Bogota' was a bust, at least for my way of travel. So I checked out 5 or 6 hostels nearby first hand. Nomad Destino was by far the best. It's staffed by college students who are ever smiling, the rooms are clean, the sheets, white; the water pressure, terrific. There are two television rooms, a clean, well-stocked kitchen. The patio is open air, which is good some days and bad on rainy days. Downside? It's on a hill that will get your breath going.
Hosts were very knowlegeable, excellent!
