I was at Destino26 in April, the most memorable thing was the fantastic smell of the flowers out in the garden. An excellent hostel: great price, quiet, excellent location next to the beach, safe, secure with lockers, fully equipped kitchen, wifi, comfortable beds. Nice breakfast too The only things I can think that I can niggle about: slightly mouldy shower curtains (nothing bad really) the huge tv did tend to dominate the communal area too, so it wasn't so easy to chat with other guests.

Destino26 is located in a cute house near Pocitos beach. It is a bit far from the old city, but you can easily take a bus there. The kitchen and wifi were great, and the owner was very nice. There were 2 children staying there with their mothers, which made the atmoshepere in the hostel quite different from other hostels I've stayed at. I think that children should be in a private room if staying in a hostel because having a child in the room is awkward. Other than that, we had a great stay.

The hostel is located in very nice area of Montevideo, close to the beach. There is beautiful garden. It is 20-25 min bus form city center, but I would definitely choose it again. The staff is very helpful.

I booked and paid for 6 bed dorm. I was put in an 8 bed with 7 males. The room was dirty, with dishes everywhere and was not cleaned the 3 nights I was there! Me and my partner both got bed bugs while here. Kitchen is good.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Dear, Respect to bed bugs, we have 2 years since we open, that room is still used and if you look comments about bed bugs, you are not going to find them, in Hostel World or any book page which we work with and the room is almost always full, so if you really have bed bugs as you say, all reviews of all the number of people who passed through that room would be negative about it, but there are not, so i think you got bitten by mosquitos that is very common in Montevideo.

A great hostel with all the facilities but a few factors mean the atmosphere falls short. My dorm room over 3 days had myself, a 60 European man and a Spanish speaking mum and her 7-8 year old kid which I've never seen in a hostel before! The tv in the centre of the one inside hangout area meant most people stuck to siting silently on wifi so not to disturb the tv watchers. Maybe it would be amazing at other times!

They have really nice bathroom, beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equiped. Nice garden in the back where u can chill out.

Good area, near beach, clean. Would recommend

Close to the beach and to bus stops that take you everywhere you wanna go, including to the airport. Helpful and nice staff.

Good clean hostel. It's easy to get there by bus. Comfy beds and clean bathrooms. Location is in a lovely area close to the beach.

The basic environment of the hostel is good. The kitchen functions and is clean, same for the bathrooms and beds. The back yard and rooftop are nice places to get some air or have a view and the location in the city is perfect. The one glaring issue is the overnight staff which tends to be the same person who spends most of his time getting drunk and smoking in the back and not working the desk so that after midnight returning to the hostel can mean waiting sometimes 5 or even 15-20 minutes.

Very nice hostel, calm and clean! Bed was clean and comfortable and shower was great! Mauricio is amazing and make efforts so that we have an excellent stay!

i started and ended my trip to Uruguay here. Destino26 is located in a great area in Montevideo with just a short walk to the beach. There are plenty of stores nearby and a great market every Friday, also some great bars and restaurants nearby too. The bus stops are just around the corner so you can get to the centre of the city easily The staff are warm and friendly and create a relaxed atmosphere. The hostel is well run, very clean and a great place to stay while in Montevideo.

The hostel is in a nice street in Pocitos. It is excellent for those who want to enjoy the beach and local restaurants. Requires a bus or a taxi to get in the old areas (10 minutes by taxi, bus half an hour). Staff very friendly, very safe, quiet sleep (unlike the central districts). The Christmas party that the staff organized was fantastic. The bike tour too!

Clean, quiet, close to beach... lovely staff :)

Very nice place, cozy and simple. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and of course, the other guests were very pleasant. Not very pricey either comparing to Montevideo food prices.

The staff here are really friendly and made my stay great! It's a real friendly place and a real home from home. When cold outside the room can be a bit cold.
