Very nice hostel- super clean, nice people. The bunk beds are really high- the top bunk is a little scary! The area at night is a little dodgy but felt very safe- very close to the party area in Lapa!

Cons: Rooms are RIGHT next to the common area so there is lots of noise in the morning when people are eating and at night when people are hanging out. Great staff and location but the rooms being so close to common area are a big negative.

Had a great time in Rio and at the hostel! It's clean and spacious and the staff is very friendly. Met a few other guests, some even joined us on a day out. Good computers available for those of us not travelling with a smartphone or laptop, nice touch! Convenient location right next to the metro and less than 15mnts from Lapa. Definitely staying here again when I return to Rio! One thing they should start doing is separating trash for recycling.

Amazing. Staff are just lovely, beautiful old house with a couryard, easy to get everywhere and area safe. Totally recomend! You'll never want to leave Rio.

The Discovery hostel is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. The dorms are of a good size, the beds are very comfy and not many hostels offer memory foam pillows. The breakfast is vast and there is plenty of choice to. It is like staying at a boutique hotel. What makes the hostel great though is the staff. They are so informative, friendly and are just a great bunch of people to be with and Enrique makes everybody feel at home. If I was to return to Rio, I would stay here again.

Few hostels in the word can claim to be better than a 4/5 star hotel. This one can. The personal service before-during-and after you arrive are better than any hilton concierge service, only using trusted people, making you feel like family moment you arrive. Also, the mattresses/beds are super soft and spacious. This place was built by travellers for travellers, without the $300 pn price tag, and makes it very hard to leave. Congratulations enrique and partner on a great hostel.

I have been in many hostels around the world , this has been one of the best!!! Staff guys are kind, nice and helpful!!! I really had a great time in this place, I extremely recommend it !!!

Top hostel! The best i've ever stayed! Staffs are great. Hostel is very clean, mattress are thick. Kitchen 24/7. 1min walking from metro.

Perfect people there. International staff. Chile, German, Spanish again German, Israel. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, and of course garden is perfect. Breakfast very good. Everything what you need, you will find there. Also location is perfect . I will stay there again when I turn back to rio 11 days after. See you guys :) Enrique see you man ))

Great new hostel with excellent, friendly, knowledgeable staff. You can tell they have thought about the needs of backpackers with details like bedside lights and lots of charge points in the rooms. The beds are comfy and everything feels very clean. The location next to Gloria station is great, meaning you can access the rest of the city easily by bus and metro, and you can also walk to Lapa in about 15 minutes. Choosing a hostel was hard for Rio but this is definitely the best option.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are great: mattresses and pillows were extremely comfortable. I'm not the biggest fan of three-bed bunks, but these ones had a reasonable amount of space, and there are reading lights on each one and enough fan/airconditioning to keep the room comfortable. Good lockers, too. The common areas are good and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Wifi is fast and reliable. I'd happily came back here next time I'm in Rio.

Discovery Hostel is a perfect base to start discovering the amazing city Rio de Janeiro. Directly after arriving we felt like home. The staff is friendly and realy helpful. Also, they are able to create a relaxing atmosphere (e.g. barbecue for the whole guests). Because the hostel was opened only 5 month ago, the facilities are of good quality (e.g. beds totally comfortable, kitchen well equiped, etc.). We enjoyed our stay in Discovery Hostel and say THX to Enrique and his lovely team!!!

Great Hostel! I stayed in 4 hostels in Rio and this is definitely the best one! The staff was really friendly and eager to answer all your concerns. Great facilities and very clean.

This place is beyond expectations!! THE place to go in Rio! The location is perfect, very near to the metro station, the bus stops and the Lapa's night life is walking distance (even for girls in high heels!). The owners are always there so the place runs smoothly and you feel at home. The atmosphere is amazing, best experience ever!

Discovery Hostel is a wonderful hostel with a very nice staff, good and confortable bedrooms and a practical location closer to Marina da Glória, Glória Subway, Lapa nightlife and easy transportation for beaches as Ipanema and Copacabana. Zion, Enrique and all staff made me feel very well and provided all attention in a very kind and feel good mood. Discovery Hostel has a valuable cost x benefit due to amazing and relaxing atmosphere , very aligned to Rio's lively energy. I feel a great vibe!

I loved this hostel! Very clean. Comfortable beds. Breakfast provided. Conveniently located a block from Gloria's metro stop, as well as buses which take you to other areas of Rio. Lapa is located about a 10 minute walk or less away, so it is a great place to stay if looking to enjoy nightlife and Friday's street party. My favorite thing about this hostel is the staff. They were extremely helpful and friendly during my stay and really took the time to assist visitors in understanding the area.
