Great new hostel with excellent, friendly, knowledgeable staff. You can tell they have thought about the needs of backpackers with details like bedside lights and lots of charge points in the rooms. The beds are comfy and everything feels very clean. The location next to Gloria station is great, meaning you can access the rest of the city easily by bus and metro, and you can also walk to Lapa in about 15 minutes. Choosing a hostel was hard for Rio but this is definitely the best option.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are great: mattresses and pillows were extremely comfortable. I'm not the biggest fan of three-bed bunks, but these ones had a reasonable amount of space, and there are reading lights on each one and enough fan/airconditioning to keep the room comfortable. Good lockers, too. The common areas are good and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Wifi is fast and reliable. I'd happily came back here next time I'm in Rio.

Discovery Hostel is a perfect base to start discovering the amazing city Rio de Janeiro. Directly after arriving we felt like home. The staff is friendly and realy helpful. Also, they are able to create a relaxing atmosphere (e.g. barbecue for the whole guests). Because the hostel was opened only 5 month ago, the facilities are of good quality (e.g. beds totally comfortable, kitchen well equiped, etc.). We enjoyed our stay in Discovery Hostel and say THX to Enrique and his lovely team!!!

Great Hostel! I stayed in 4 hostels in Rio and this is definitely the best one! The staff was really friendly and eager to answer all your concerns. Great facilities and very clean.

This place is beyond expectations!! THE place to go in Rio! The location is perfect, very near to the metro station, the bus stops and the Lapa's night life is walking distance (even for girls in high heels!). The owners are always there so the place runs smoothly and you feel at home. The atmosphere is amazing, best experience ever!

Discovery Hostel is a wonderful hostel with a very nice staff, good and confortable bedrooms and a practical location closer to Marina da Glória, Glória Subway, Lapa nightlife and easy transportation for beaches as Ipanema and Copacabana. Zion, Enrique and all staff made me feel very well and provided all attention in a very kind and feel good mood. Discovery Hostel has a valuable cost x benefit due to amazing and relaxing atmosphere , very aligned to Rio's lively energy. I feel a great vibe!

I loved this hostel! Very clean. Comfortable beds. Breakfast provided. Conveniently located a block from Gloria's metro stop, as well as buses which take you to other areas of Rio. Lapa is located about a 10 minute walk or less away, so it is a great place to stay if looking to enjoy nightlife and Friday's street party. My favorite thing about this hostel is the staff. They were extremely helpful and friendly during my stay and really took the time to assist visitors in understanding the area.

Safe, convenient location (Metro & grocery within 125 meters, ATM across the street, Santa Teresa neighborhood about a 15-minute walk). Great staff (yes, I'm talking about you Michelle, Zion, Alex & Enrique!) & very comfortable common area. Also, Discovery is a very clean hostel. This is a very good place to land in Rio, as it's not a party hostel, but a lot of quality people come to stay there.

Nice hostel with private lockers, bedside lamp, electrical outlet and the best hostel breakfast I've ever had in Brazil. Only negative point is the limited common area and the very high top bunk bed where it is pretty easy to fall off. Great is the close location to the Metro Gloria.

Good: Great location next to metro, and walking to LAPA. Very convenient. Warm, friendly, helpful, welcoming owners and staff. Deluxe private room. Wifi. Bad: Dorm room at back and upstairs was small and stuffy. Bathroom was downstairs and tiny, including sink. Conclusion: Recommend thoroughly if you want to be near LAPA. If you can, take the very nice "deluxe private" either alone or shared with friend. Alternatively request lower bunk in one of the front upstairs rooms as opposed to the back.

This hostel is good as long as you don't get stuck on the third bunk.

This really was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left the staff were so welcoming. I was traveling on my own and never felt like I had so many friends.

The best hostel in Rio. A real home from home, the staff treat you like an old friend from the moment they open the door. The attention to detail is just fab, the beds are lush. Lorraine was making things by hand and speaking to her showed her passion for the place. Enrique, Zion, Lorraine, Crystal and Michelle were all great. Nice to socialise, events and evenings planned by staff, but still able to get an early nights sleep if needed. Thanks for having us, hope to see you all again soon. Bobs

by far the most helpful staff who go out of their way, and the cleanest hostel I stayed in within my 3 months travelling South America.

Best hostel I´ve stayed in so far on my trip, I arrived in Rio alone and a little apprehensive, but it was so easy to meet people here and the staff were amazing! Great breakfast, clean comfy dorms, definitely stay here!

Had a great time in this hostel. Enrique and his brother escorted the many of the guests to Lapa for an evening which was great. They are a great bunch of guys. Hostel facilities were brilliant, kitchen was one of the cleanest we used in Brazil. The hostel is very chilled out and very sociable.

Perfect location and cozy environment. Nice and helpfull staff.
