Great place to meet other travellers. All staff were very helpful, the hostel is clean, homely and close to everything as the subway is just round the corner. If I return to Rio I'll be staying here. Thanks for a great stay.

Well run with lots of the things that matter to travellers done right (showers, big lockers, adapters etc available). Good atmosphere and staff make an effort to remember your name an ensure you have all you need for a good stay. Well done.

Discovery was by far the best hostel we have stayed at, Enrique and his staff were extremely helpful and made the place feel like a home away from home. Great bar and outdoor courtyard and all the other amenities that you expect from a great hostel. We also booked transfers and excursions through the hostel and all were great experiences. This place is a must when visiting Rio

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. As a solo female traveler I felt 100% safe in the hostel and the neighborhood. Close to the Metro, downtown Rio, restaurants and shops. Excellent location. If you are not a fan of heights, be sure to ask for a lower bunk because the high ones are very high. Beds have space to sit up fully, which is a big plus. Will be back!

An INCREDIBLE hostel! Felt like our home for the few days we stayed there. Loved the friendly atmosphere and relationships with the staff. An absolute pleasure to stay here, would definitely come back and recommend to friends!

Great Hostel. It definitely feels like home! Metro near by....bank down the road....supermarket within a two minute walk. I definitely would recommend a stay in this friendly, clean and quirky little Utopia in Lapa. If there was one piece of advice I would offer....it's to make sure all staff are consistent in how to approach the bar situation at night. On a few occasions, the laid back female Australian receptionist was rude to a couple of my friends when they asked for drinks.

The Discovery Hostel was definitely one of the best hostels I stayed at in south america! The staff is incredible helpful and gives you a personal 20-30min overview/introduction to the stunning city of Rio!The Hostel itself is really lovely and has got lots of nice little features making it interesting and beautiful. The social area is perfect for hanging out, meeting like-minded travelers or trying one of the bars delicious cocktails. Rooms/lockers are spacious and everything is tidy and clean!

What a wonderful place to stay - my travel plans changed at the last minute, and I found myself more or less by myself in Rio for nearly three weeks. Not to worry! Discovery is so welcoming and community-oriented that I always had someone to go out to go to different sights or eat with if I wanted the company. The staff is incredibly welcoming and always up for a good trek or party.

Discovery Hostel is not near the 2 main beaches in Rio but it is a ten minute walk to the nightlife in Rio, which is great. The room we stayed in had 9 people and 3 beds which were 3 bunks high for each bed, a bit of a tight squeeze. But the people you meet are great and we ended up going out 3 nights with people we met at the hostel. Would be nice to have more bathrooms though. Also, they make caprinhas for only 5 reals and they're really good.

Great hostel to stay at, especially if wanting to meet new people - everyone is so friendly! Although not close to Copacabana/Ipanema its only a few metro stops away which is beyond easy to navigate! Also walking distance to Lapa steps which is also convenient for going out on a Friday/Saturday night. Breakfast was great and the rooms were always kelp clean as well. Definitely recommend this hostel.

This is a charming hostel, with stylish decor, good shower, a good breakfast and some nice touches (little shelf and socket by your bed for your phone!). It has a resident cat which I personally like but be aware if you are allergic! The location is very near a subway stop Gloria, so great for cultural trips for the centre and walkable to Lapa for the bars. Offers a very reasonable laundry service. Met lovely ppl. Only small fault is the staff seemed bored and less talkative than other hostels.

Great hostel with a very good atmosphere. People are willing to do things together and same goes with the staff who are world travelers as well.

Amazing hostel, tthey have created such a friendly and communal culture and provide a great balance between those who want to party and those who are more serious travellers. Would not hesitate staying here in the future.

Discovery is one of the best hostels in my life. The atmosphere is unique, thanks to the availability and competence of the staff, above all Diego. They do care about people having a good time in they stay in Rio. Hostel position in Gloria makes it an ideal starting point to visit the city: it is very close to the metro and to the main bus lines, and also to Lapa. Breakfast included home made cakes and excellent home made french toast and frittatas.

Hands-down the best hostel in Rio. The staff is awesome and friendly, there's an incredible sense of community amongst the people that stay there, and it's a quick walk to where all the partying in Lapa goes down. It was so great to stay at a place where people want to do things together during the day and also go out at night. Discovery Hostel is perfect for whether you are traveling by yourself or with friends, significant other, etc.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. As soon as you walk through the door you know you're in a homely, welcoming place. Very comfy beds and well designed rooms with out of the way lockers and storage facilities. Breakfast was all kinds of delicious and the outdoor area made for great atmosphere. The staff are also great and will help facilitate a fantastic stay in Rio, often giving tips for local/non-touristy places. Will definitely be coming back here when I return to Rio.
