Booked for 2 nights from the North Island. We were told the bathroom was next door to the double room and that on the 2nd night I would be staying with the manager and her sister in the female shared dorm. Upon arrival we see the bathroom was not next to the double room and I was no longer sharing with these ladies but some random females. NOt what I was told or expected so we didnt stay there. Yet still had to pay for the first night regardless. We were mislead and charged for it!!!

Great hostal, felt really homely! Only downside is WiFi is expensive but who needs WiFi when you have such beautiful coastline right outside your door!!!! Owners are super friendly and helpful.

no tour desk laundry not available during advertised hours internet expensive no lockers

An ok hostel, but have stayed at better in Kaikoura. The location was a bit set back from the main road which would not have been great if we didn't have a car getting up at 5am for the dolphin swim. Some of the reception staff were a bit miserable, b others were great! Had a rainy day and the TV broke about 4 times and the DVD collection (VHS's) were all crazy fuzzy so not the best! Wifi is also really expensive. Rooms ok and beds pretty comfy, kitchen was ok and outside area nice if sunny :)
