Downhill Hostel is one of the best hostel I've ever been. The location is awesome, rooms are confortable with an amazing view (we slept in the dorm), the kitchen is big and well equipped and the staff is friendly and gave us very useful advice about what to visit in the area. I definitely recommend it!

In all the traveling I've done in Northern Ireland, Ireland and the rest of the world, of all the hostels, bed & breakfast's and hotels I've stayed in, I enjoy being at the Downhill Hostel most. It's more than the facilities, the staff, the location or anything I've rated above. All of the above is taken care of so well that you can relax and enjoy being in the place and, just being. It's comfortable, quiet and well-placed. The hospitality is second to none and so is this hostel. Get there!

The fact that there wasn't a basic supply of milk was thirsty work. I know that breakfast is not offered but to not get a basic cup of tea was disappointing. And it made no sense to buy a whole pack of butter for 2 toasted rolls so the most important meal of the day also a dry anticlimax. Have you thought about providing a communal supply of milk &butter? Too expensive? As a 1 night resident I'd happily put 20p in the kitty for a dribble of milk and scoop of butter. Worth a thought.

Great location, great facilities, welcoming and comfortable, great staff. The best hostel I have been to by a long way. I have hostelled all over Europe, and while some hostels are equal in quality in some aspects, not one can compete in terms of the overall experience. Highly recommended!

Our host graciously waited for us when all of the snow prevented us from getting to the Hostel in a timely fashion. The house is wonderful, beds were comfy, shower had plenty of hot water. Kitchen was easy to navigate and the store up the road had plenty to purchase for just one dinner and one breakfast.. Top rating from us! Suzanne and Michelle

I'll write a longer and more effusive review soon, when I have the time. But for now, let me say that Downhill is, quite possibly, the most beautiful place I've ever been.

Beautiful hostel in a very nice place, directly at the sea and close to rocks. REally wonderful location. The house itself is a very nicely renovated Victorian house, with lovely atmosphere and nice, clean rooms. The kitchen is huge and has all the necessary equipment, could easily used by several people in the same time. Separate big dining room and another sitting room with a lot of things to enjoy (books, games, guitar, etc.). Will definitely come back here and advise to all of my friends! :)

Many tours I did through the north of Ireland, many hostels did visit and slept in. Downhill Hostel is the best. I recommend it to people who would like the character of a location or house in a quiet atmosphere. I have this plan to fill it up for a weekend with good friends, their wifes, kids and all that. That 'll be my next one. Thanks for having us! Carl Van Dyck
