it's a former hotel and that's how it feels. Definetly been to hostels with better atmosphere. a lot of young school kids, but i guess thats because it's big enough to host big groups.

Very good location.. Just in front of the station. 15 minutes walking to downtown. Private bathroom on my room. Large kitchen.

Sweet place. 10min walk north of the city by the bluebridge ferry. 20min walk to Cuba street. Bar and cafe in hostel. Huge kitchen. Art Deco style. Only two downsides, no parking and toilet/bathroom; old and a little run down.

Quite old

Hostel is not in the CBD, you'll have to walk to. But it's cloes to the ferry quay (Bluebridge). It's a former hotel and it's not so good if you're looking for contact to other travellers. BYO is not allowed (only in your room) 'cause they have a fully licenced bar.

Had a great stay. Nice big hotel feel to the place which never makes it feel crowded. The free wifi doesn´t last long but that´s one of few cons.

Our stay was ruined by a group of kiwi lad who got back at 4:30am and decided to knock on every door on the floor, before having a hugely loud discussion until 5:15am. The paper thin walls meant we were forced to endure it until they passed out. The staff warned them but they were obnoxious guests who didn't really care. I know the hostel can't control for this, and it's just unlucky but it left us pretty grumpy during our onward travel in the morning. Nice hostel apart from that.

The dining room was warm and inviting. The kitchen facilities were good. Older style heritage decor was appealing.

I was surprised to see that it looks like a really big and old hotel but it kind of gave it character. the room was very clean but the toilets throughout the place didn't seem to work the best. There is a cafe/restaurant inside which was very nice and I liked the walk-in large fridge which made it easy to store all of your food without fighting for space.

We stayed in a twin room for one night. The room itself was OK. Big enough and handy to have a sink in the room, and it was nice to have a bathroom shared with just one other room. But the bathroom facilities were old and although I think it was clean, it just felt unclean that everything was so old and dated. The hostel had everything we needed, but because it is so big it is hard to get that typical, community, 'hostel' feel.

Big building with a huge kitchen, a bar inside and an elevator Everything was perfect but it has the hotel feel that some backpacker might not like. It is really a question of taste.

Great location (right next to BlueBridge ferry terminal). Rooms felt a bit cramped.

Great location near the train/bus station, room was rather crowded but comfortable enough for one night. Would stay again if briefly visiting Wellington.
