My bed sheets were stinking! Staff were ok, and location was good. My bed sheets were appalling though, so I wouldn't recommend.

We stayed in a double ensuite and had a TV with sky. The room was pretty small but comfortable. The Hostel is perfectly located right next to the train station in the center. It is an old Hotel which was converted in to a Hostel. The Hostel kitchen is huge since it appears to be the old Hotel kitchen. There is a cafè located in the community room ehich was the old ball room. On the first floor is a pub that is open to the public.

The hostel is in what used to be Hotel Waterloo so it does have quite a bit of character having retained the style. It was a perfect location for me because it is right across from the railway station but also close to the parlement building. I loved the big kitchen, which could be better organized in terms of cooking utensils; but lots of room to work and a great walki-in fridge. Great dining room where you can opt to order meals from the cafe. I do recommend this hostel.

I only spent a night in Downtown. Deluxe hostel, look like a hotel, very clean, good facilities, bar, kitchen and restaurant on the 1st floor. Bathroom ensuite and very clean. staff very hepful and very nice. 1 minute walk form NAKEDBUS Stop in wellington. Better than a typical hostel, if you need to go in this area pick this accomodation

Located just next to railway station and bus stop! Reception staff were kind but since this is a big place, they arent as relaxed and cant spend that much time talking to you. There is a bar on the 1st floor so probably there are some drunken noisy people in the night. WiFi is not free, 4 nzd iirc, but no need to pay! - there is McDonald and free city wifi on the street. My room, 4bed / 2bunkbeds was very spacious. But, tap water in bathroom run very slow, almost impossible to wash hands (3rd F)

+ direct opposite from the railway station, big kitchen, very nice bar with pool and other games, friendly staff - expensive wifi, no lockers, small rooms

Stayed the 2nd time there and had once again a very positive experience. The rooms are clean, the staff nice. The only negative thing is that my bed was squeaking with every move I made. Would recommend to everyone to stay there and will be back when in Wellington again!! :-)

Nice building, "homelike" bathroom (we liked it pretty much) and very, very friendly staff.

Location, staff and amenities were excellent. Bathroom could use a scrub and a bit of a spruce up.

Great hostel, very clean, the staff is EXTREMELY helpful and the location cannot be beat if you are looking to take a ferry or train. The neighborhood was great and I will be staying here again for sure!

Facility was charming and it had a nice bar with drink deals for people staying there but it was usually pretty empty. Internet was very over priced and we had to pay by the megabyte which is hard to know what you need for the average person so one tends to overbuy. The biggest problems was that there was only one bathroom for an entire floor. each floor had about 18 to 20 rooms and 1 bathroom/shower for everyone on the floor

We arrived at 7 in the morning with a night bus on Sunday, there was nobody waiting to have a room except us and we had to wait until 12:30 to have a room. Staff were unfriendly, and didn't try to make us comfortable and we had to ask them 3 times to know what's going on! The hostel wasn't full, and it's a big one (many floors) and they weren't understanding to the fact we were very tired. We had the impression that they're just here to make money! only good thing, close to ferry and train!

We paid for a delux suite so were surprised when we were expected to pay $10 deposit for a plug for the bath which incidentally only had shower taps not bath taps so the only way to fill the bath was to switch on the shower.

The location is very good for buses, trains and the ferry shuttle bus and it was ok for just one night's stay. I'm not sure I'd want to stay there for longer though as it was generally a little bit run down and there was lots of noise from the street below at night. Generally it was a bit too big and impersonal for us.

The hostel is in a excellent spot when you arrive/depart at the train/bus station or ferry terminal and can't be bothered to walk miles to the other hostels. There's a bar and cafe downstairs and the McDonalds right next to it. What do you need more :D Staff is really nice and can help you with all kind of problems. Rooms are tidy and clean and have an own bathroom. It was a nice stay for one night but I will definitely go here again when I ever get back to Wellington one day! Thank you.

Nice hostel with a really nice cafe/common area. Located just outside the train station, great for buses, trains and ferries. Walking distance to the main town.

I chose this hostel for the location as we were getting the ferry early the next morning and for this it perfectly located. I liked that it is in an old hotel - lots of character. The rooms are very small and crowded though. Our room was messy and dirty - although I think that this had more to do with the other people in our room than the hostel itself. Also, no lockers in the rooms. Overall, I would stay there if getting an early ferry. Otherwise look elsewhere!
