I have stayed in a LOT of hostels, and my reviews are very fair. I know what to expect for the money I'm paying, but this hostel was hands-down the worst place I've ever stayed. The location is great, but inside, the place is disgusting. The 'common area' consists of a few tables with mostly broken chairs in front of a tv, with garbage and sunflower seed shells spit all over the floor, and looks like it rarely, if ever, gets cleaned. And, our bathroom smelled terribly...

Well, begging with the fact,I didn't get there cause their directions were not good enough for a taxi driver to take you there. They should put somewhere the name of the hostel and the address in Chinese, since no taxi drivers in Changsha speak English! I showed them the address and the directions and after 40 yuan, more than 30 minutes of driving around the city, they left me in another hostel were fortunately they had one spare bed.

Look--the staff here are very friendly, professional and welcoming. And the location is unrivaled. But for longer stays I would say it's not ideal--particularly given the squat toilets and bathroom set-up overall. The beds were very hard but clean. The communal quarters were extremely cramped compared to other hostels I've stayed. The other one in Changsha may be further away but it's just a more relaxing stay.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is great, the road it's on has a lot going on. Was a bit cold in the communal room, but being the middle of winter it's cold most places.

Great place which seems to attract a friendly crowd - I felt very much at home here and stayed a few days longer than planned. For a small amount, you can eat dinner with the staff, which I recommend. Of the staff, Monica is particularly helpful, great fun and speaks excellent English. Thanks!
