there are only 4 sockets in a 9-bed dorm while 3 of them are situated next to 1 bed, that means you have to go to the living room to charge your phone. There is only 1 bathroom at night in one lodge with 5 dorms, I stayed there in off-peak season, so I didn't have to wait so long for taking shower, but I can't imagine how it would be in summer! And the most terrible is, the hot water supply was not stable at night! My friend had to take cold water shower while it was below 10 °C outside
Everything about my stay at the down town lodge was magical. The people were so funny and nice, the rooms are dark and quiet. Don't miss out on this fantastic place!!!!
Stayed here in September and had no complaints. Just needed a base so could enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Breakfast was basic but okay and good sized kitchen to cook in the evening. Dorm was a good size. I wasn't too keen on the mixed sex toilet/shower situation and there only seemed to be one shower in my block. I mean who wants to go to toilet when there's someone having a shower in the next cubicle? Luckily when I was there it was quiet so did not have to queue too often for the one shower!
A nice cheap (for Switzerland) option in the heart of Grindelwald. It has a nice breakfast, big, comfy beds and an awesome view.
The hostel was in a great location! Just off of the main busy street, across from a grocery store. The kitchen you could use was great for the traveller on a budget! The rooms were very large and the facilities were well maintained. If you book this hostel off of their website I think you might be able to save yourself some money as Hostel World has a fee for their services.

if you want quite place, you don't this hostel. many group is stayed here! very noisy!
Great spot to save some cash in this expensive town! The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was clean. In Grindelwald just about any window will have a breathtaking view, so of course that was nice. Bathrooms were well taken care of, too. And lots of available info. We would absolutely stay here if we ever get to come back. Hint: to save money buy groceries at Co-op and cook, otherwise meals in the town are very pricey. Also, the scooter bikes down the valley from Bort were a blast.
Very very friendly people! thank you very much for the awesome time with you!
Really enjoyed my stay. Staff were really really lovely and helpful which makes a big difference. Only thing is I stayed in the main building (where reception and breakfast is) and between 8pm and 7am they close a section leaving only 1 toilet, 1 shower, 1 basin
Overall I enjoyed my stay here but beware if you are staying in the dorms. They have ONE bathroom and ONE shower for over 25+ beds in the evening (after 9pm). So waiting in line for the toilet or shower can get really annoying. Otherwise, they advertise pizza and fondue if you order before 6pm which sounds like a great idea.. however I tried on two occasions and was unsuccessful each time.
Nice and helpful staff. 10 minutes walking distance from Main station.
Great time! Nice to have a kitchen.
