Good hostel for meeting people, probably not the place for people to keep to themselves. It's not a massive building and as such people are sort of on top of you a lot of the time. There's no lounge area so if you want to chill out inside you're in the kitchen or in your room. Not always a bad thing but might put some people off. Good atmosphere very lively place with evening entertainment modern facilities and pretty well located for everything. Recommended.

A clean, welcoming place, very professionally run. There's only one shared space, and it was dominated by the party-people a lot of the time. Some rooms are directly off this space, if you don't feel like a party Downtown River might not be for you.

The hostel was small and the staff were friendly. My room was right next to the window on a main road. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.

Such a good vibe at this hostel, the staff are great, especially Josh who took us out to some bars soon as we got there and organised everyone to go to the bon fire as well

Good location, only a short walk to the old town and beach. Downfall was the hostel is tiny with the common room being so close to the bedrooms that if you wanna sleep before 11pm it's impossible. Rooms are also very hot overnight, but beds are comfy with power points. Bedrooms are accessed with keys but no one ever locks the door when they leave which is annoying so anyone can just wander in, plus kitchen area was pretty unclean. Plus the price went up for the Friday night by like 20€!

Perfect location in lovely San sebastian. easy walk to the old town centre and the beach. also from the busterminal is a easy 10 a 15 min walk. i missed a meeting area to meet other travelers. It s only the kitchen. The mattress of my bed was really really poor/bad. also the other ones in my room where not that good. so if they ll change that. i would go back for sure

Great little hostel in the middle of town. Having paella and sangria prepared and served in the kitchen for all was quite nice.

Clean, comfortable, fun. Great staff, one girl was AWESOME. Helped me to stay another night on a Saturday when they were booked. Great place to stay and I'll definitely come back.

Only stay in this hostel if you do not care about sleeping or the staff being professional , some of the members of staff I found completely useless and unhelpful. A COUPLE came into our dorm room while we sleep and the next day when I told the member of staff he just simply shrugged and said " oh did they wake you up, if they didn't bother you, well..." and he left them to sleep there. I don't even know if either of them was supposed to be in our room. Anyone can walk in off the street

Good hostel! Bathrooms are good, kitchen is well enough equipped. Dorms are good (mine wasn't made up when I arrived - easily fixed) very very safe!

Awesome place! If you're looking for a party place, or just a place with a bunch of cool people, this is it. Pub crawls are so much fun and very few nights. Staff are awesome and super helpful. Not very quiet at night, with a Main Street right out the window and people coming in late, but they have earplugs at the front! Kitchen is a good area to chill and meet people. Overall had a really great stay, super fun place!

Great place for solo travelers looking to meet people and find things to do. In just the night that I spent there, there was a fantastic paella dinner with free sangria, a bar crawl, and a sign-up list for a hike the next morning. There's no good gathering place besides the kitchen, so it got a bit crowded as people congregated in there. The front door was always open, but there were lockers with locks included and keys to both the downstairs area and my room down there.

The staff are great at Downtown River Hostel. Very social, friendly and helpful. The hostel attracts a young crowd and has adapted well to provide things young travelers are looking for like day hikes, home cooked meals, and pub crawls. The staff do a great job of keeping things as clean and updated as possible. In the bathroom, there is very little counter space and it is always wet. It would be nice to have a set of shelves outside of the shower room areas for clothes and toiletries.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at. Staff were awesome organising pun crawls and dinner. Made the atmosphere awesome and everyone got around each other. Location was right near the beach and old town. Rooms were spacious and had own lockers which is great.
