This hostel could be better if it encouraged more socializing. The pancakes for breakfast were awesome and heading down to the karaoke bar organized mayor ended up being a great night. More of this is needed!

After traveling alone for 3 months through USA alone, I can honestly say that this is the BEST hostel that I stayed at. The staff (especially Danny!) is incredibly friendly and hilarious, and they learn your name, country, room and bed immediately. I would rather stay here than my own home, I have dreamed about this hostel since my departure more than a few times.

The hostel was unbelievable. The staff were so friendly and willing to help out with anything you need. In addition, the location is perfect. Right near the center of town and a 5-10 minute walk down to the national mall and white house and congress as well as close to the streets with all the nightlife. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and also nice (small)lockers to keep your stuff safe. Definitely Recommend!!

It was great having breakfast included although I would have liked to have been able to eat earlier as there was then a croud so it felt like you couldn't eat much. The washing was free which was great and there was a code to get into the building. There were good cooking facilities and wifi and a tv, would have liked to stay longer.

I had a very enjoyable stay. The staff was very welcoming. The building was a bit run down, which some might be put off by, but I could really care less. The worst thing was the noise in the back - trash on the porch blowing around and the construction work. Breakfast was a bonus.

Only remark is about the little amount of bathrooms

I found myself very welcome there. As an elder I could have felt out of place but to the contrary, felt right at home and impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the clientele. The only criticism I had was that some of the clients weren't very neat in the bathrooms, and I wished that there were signs put up as in airplanes for each person to leave the sinks clean and dry after they used them. Otherwise the stay was a delight. The building its self was charming and the colors tasteful.

The hostel was like I expected it to be... the room was very small and a little bit cold but ok. The bathroom was a little bit dirty, because everybody shared the bathrooms. The staff and the atmosphere was nice. The pancake breakfast was nothing special but ok and on sunday we even had a free Spagetti Dinner (but you have to be there on time, otherwise nothing will be left) . So all in all I can say that for the price it is quite good to stay there.

The management works hard to provide enough friendly staff, flapjacks and coffee in the morning and maintenance to make this a great experience. I made the five minute walk to and fro Union Station several times without any safety concerns and recommend this location to anyone wishing to check out the great tourist spots in the capital of corporate criminals who are dismantling this country.

I returned because I enjoyed myself so much the first time. The staff welcomed me back, and I felt at home at once.

Hostel is alright if you are keen on low level of privacy. No possibility to lock door, every now and then the owner or a member of staff would enter room, even in the middle of the night. Heard about beg bugs being a problem. However, unbeatable location, a 10 min walk away from the Capitol.

If you want to stay in DC, stay in downtown Washington Hostel, 15 minutes walking to the Capitol and the Mall. Be carefull of the mayor of H-street, he's a crazy guy from the staff

This was the best hostel I stayed at in America, the location is amazing, H Street is full of fantastic bars and restaurants the best place to be in Washington and only a 20 min walk from all the big attractions. The hostel is run by a really friendly group who helped make the stay memerable and personal.

This is an excellent little hostel, close enough to the Mall that to walk there takes around 15 mins. The street it's on has several bars/restaurants to enjoy, plus the staff know lots of good places to go out. The staff there are excellent, and make sure to wake up early enough to have some of the 'Mayor of H Street' pancakes, which are delicious! The facilities are very clean, as are the bedrooms, and the no-shoe policy makes the place feel like a home from home.

A very personal and cosy hostel, actualy one of the best I ever stayed at. The breakfast was excellent and I wish I could have stayed longer than one night. You feel a little bit like home. The staff has a good humor and makes fun with you every time.

Had an awesome time here. The vibe of the hostel makes it easy to meet people and the manager, Danny (aka the mayor of H st), took a bunch of us out for an awesome night a short walk from the hostel. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody that likes fun.
