Downtown Washington Hostel Reviews

This was the best hostel I stayed at in America, the location is amazing, H Street is full of fantastic bars and restaurants the best place to be in Washington and only a 20 min walk from all the big attractions. The hostel is run by a really friendly group who helped make the stay memerable and personal.

This is an excellent little hostel, close enough to the Mall that to walk there takes around 15 mins. The street it's on has several bars/restaurants to enjoy, plus the staff know lots of good places to go out. The staff there are excellent, and make sure to wake up early enough to have some of the 'Mayor of H Street' pancakes, which are delicious! The facilities are very clean, as are the bedrooms, and the no-shoe policy makes the place feel like a home from home.

Had an awesome time here. The vibe of the hostel makes it easy to meet people and the manager, Danny (aka the mayor of H st), took a bunch of us out for an awesome night a short walk from the hostel. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody that likes fun.

A very personal and cosy hostel, actualy one of the best I ever stayed at. The breakfast was excellent and I wish I could have stayed longer than one night. You feel a little bit like home. The staff has a good humor and makes fun with you every time.

Stop looking for hostels and book this one now!

Great place with a nice atmousphere.Danny is a complete gentleman, and the other staff are also extremely hospitable. I would definately return here.

room very small for 3 occupants; don't get on the 3rd floor as they did laundry until the wee hours which produced constant noise and banging in the hallway both nights. believe there were no screens on an open window as I got bitten by mosquitoes. the staff was detached after the initial introduction. second shower on the 3rd floor was not working but the toilets were very clean.

Had great time and made lots of friends. Danny "King of H Street" rocked the whole experience.

I made many new friends during my one night stay here. The service here is excellent, not to mention the cleanliness of it. Everyone here is very friendly. We watched TV together, went to museum and Chinatown on Sunday. Even though it is a cold windy weekend in DC, I felt very warm and at home here. Friendship I made in DC is not something I can get from a vacation agency or regular hotel.

Cannot say enough good things about this hostel. Clean, safe, really central location and the staff are great. Free breakfast everyday. The Wi-Fi was really good. The showers were excellent. The communal spaces were amazing for hanging out in and there was always someone to talk to. It's worth going just so you can meet the mayor of H street!

Good pancakes in the morning, rooms are clean, could have a few more toilets/showers (only 3 for entire hostel), free washing!

Had such a fantastic time at the Downtown Washingto our first night there, that we decided to come back at the end of our stay in USA. The staff there is friendly and welcoming, everything is clean and the beds are among the most comfortable I have ever found in a hostel. The whole vibe of the place is open and friendly, and everyone who stays there seems to embrace this. The people who run place know what's up!

This is the most fabulous hostel. The staff is friendly, the rooms spacious and clean, the bathrooms are spotless, and it is a great value. I felt at home here, If I have the chance to return to Washington I will be staying here. The hostel is in a great location and has everything you could possibly need. The walking tours offered are also very good. I cannot recommend this hostel highly enough. A++++

As a single lady traveling, the saftey of the hostel and the staff are really important to me. I've never felt more at home and welcomed than at Downtown Washington Hostel. The breakfast is simple ( pancakes and coffee or tea ) but its FREE which I love haha. And the people are just so wonderful. Really felt like a place I can call "home" when I'm traveling.

The hostel was totally what I was looking for. Great atmosphere, close to the city centre and reasonable walking distance to everything you want to visit in DC. The staff was really helpful and nice to everyone! I will stay there again.

One of the friendliest hostels I have ever stayed in. We were made feel at home "one of the family" straight away & it remained that way for our entire stay. Staff were excellent & we were even given our our personal tour of DC planned just for us with tips. Rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable and breakfast was creatively made by the Mayor of H Street. The hostel was in an excellent location and the locals of H Street are super friendly as well which made a nice change. Def stay again

Great community vibe at this place. All the travelers were easy going and I met a bunch of interesting people. The pancakes were great but it would have been epic if they also made cookies in the afternoon.

The staff was excellent and very helpful. The facilities were great and clean. Liked that they cooked for there guess on Sunday for dinner. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip.

The check-in was easy and the staff was very good. I felt more like I was staying at a friend's place. The proximity to Union Station is outstanding. I'd absolutely stay at this location again!
