Decent location, quiet at night, front desk very helpful. Rooms are bigs, beds are good, kitchen on the smaller side, but well equipped. Laundry $3 each for washter/dryer. Some bait and switch (as with all of Cairns) - listed free internet is only free with a 3 night booking. Free meal is not free as you pretty much have to buy an overprised drink and even then the food is tasteless and a stretch to call it a meal. Forgot to ask for the key deposit when returning my key and they happily had it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dreamtime. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the layout and decor of the place. Very spacious and clean room and very well equipped kitchen. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Really great hostel, one of the best I have ever stayed in. It had a real home away from home feel. Our group had two rooms, one twin and one double and both were very clean, comfortable and tidy.

It's hard to fault this place. It has a really nice vibe and atmosphere - friendly and sociable and a bit more "mature", it's not one of the "party hostels" found elsewhere in town. It has the usual film and BBQ nights etc. but it's also just a short walk in to central Cairns and the lagoon on the coast. The staff are spot on - very knowledgeable and friendly and also fellow travellers who know their stuff. The rooms are immaculate and well appointed. Dreamtime is highly recommended!

After many bookings I arrived in Cairns past 22h and found out that I only booked the hostel for the next 2 days, but forgot about the night of arrival. The staff was extremely kind, tried to find my reservation, to allocate me in a fully booked night, and after all arranged for me to sleep over at another hostel. In addition, they gave me a ride to the other hostel and advised me thoroughly according to my needs on tours, sight seeing & eating. Fantastic home, cozy atmosphere!

Really nice chilled out hostel. Nice pool area to relax in and good communal area with bbq's. Not a party hostel but people there still up for drinks in the evenings. Not for people that want lively hostels though

Besides us having to proof that we all our nights paid (due to a clerical error at our arrival), I can't find any other downside to this guesthouse. Away from party central yet close enough to join the party people in the CBD and then enjoy a good night sleep. Love the plants, love the enthusiastic owner and the list goes on and on. It's not your typical sleazy backpacker place, it's a traveler's haven.

The kitchen and especially the fridge are too small for such an amount of people. Also should they give an airconditioner for this money, you really need it here.

Great Hostel with very friendly staf and a good location. Highly recomended if you're staying in Cairnes. Bring 1 dollar coins for aircon cause it tends to get hot and sticky!

Great hostel in convenient location in Cairns. There is quite a bit of difference in the quality of the double rooms, and it is worth paying a bit extra to get the nicer ones.

Rooms were clean and location was ok (10 min walk to town). Supermarket/mall was very close which was convenient. You have to pay for wireless use - had several computers for use. They left clear instructions in case the reception was closed when I arrived. The staff was super helpful with booking my tours for me - they spent a lot of time trying to find an opening even though tours were booked out. Overall, enjoyed my stay with them!

Nice little double room with aircon and even fridge. The hostel is very quiet and well located right in front of the main mall of Cairns and just 5 minutes away from the city center. I recommand this place.

I have stayed here before and love the feel of the place. Its a great location and close to the city. Location is ideal because you are away from the louisy young folk but still apart of the atmosphere. Staff are nice and friendly.

Favourite hostel in Australia!!! Loads of character but still felt cozy, as if you were kicking back at home. Beds were comfy. Only negative was the room was exceptionally hot and the air con didn't seem to help much. Got on with it fine though. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Also, there is an amazing Mexican restaurant up the road with super cheap food and drinks. The train station/mall are also across the street - convenient! :) thanks for making our stay in cairns a good one!!
