Once again, during the world cup, all the prices on hostels were expensive! But getting past that and getting to the hostel... the location wasn't too bad, just a little farther than in the buzz of things, takes a 5 minute walk just to get there, which (from experience) means that nights are a lot more quiet! Breakfast was average, and not a lot of room for guests to sit (8 people max). Also, be prepared to wait for a shower or bathroom, there's only one female and one male!

1. A bit challenging and difficult to communicate with staff because of English language barrier. 2. Internet did not work downstairs in the private rooms. 3. The double bed in our private room was not comfortable. It was way too soft and did not have enough back support. The bathroom could have some soap. 4. Would have been nice to get some information on local tours or areas to explore. But Eduardo and some of the other staff was lovely. We enjoyed our time in Salvador!

Duda and Mariz are nice! They will do their best to help you even if they do not speak a lot of English. Expect some 15 to 20 minutes of walking in really steep place from the bus stations. It wont be a picnic if you carry your backpack. The place is in the old city center(which is a touristic attraction, this is where the Carnival happens) and is 30 minutes away from the sea(by bus).Breakfast basic yet consistent and place is clean. You might be asked to change your room during your stay.

Breakfast is too basic - other hostels other a lot more for you to eat/drink. Not even any juice here! Staff are friendly but their English is very bad which is not good enough for a hostel catering for so many English-speaking foreigners. Other hostels manage to speak better English and charge less for your stay.

The location was a challenge if you are travelling by bus, rather grab a cab because it's quite a difficult walk with a backpack. More of a chilled environment than a party one but the party is close by if you looking for it. Close to reasonable restaurants and in walking distance of the sites. Will definitely return.

There was no hot water during our stay, and even though it was supposed to be fixed, it never was. One of the beds in our rooms smelled really bad, but it was hard to place what the smell was. Wifi only works in the TV room and maybe the kitchen if you're lucky. The breakfast provided was nice though, and the staff was great. The neighborhood is decent, but not a lot going on. We were lucky to catch a festival, but without it there'd be nothing happening.

The personal was friendly and helpful though more English skills would be helpful. The kitchen is very useful and the hostels location which is nealy in the centre of the centre of the Pelourinho is really good. Even during carneval the hostel was not too crowded. I would recommend Duda Hostel.

It's a good hostel. Not in the very center of the historical center ))), but close to it. Family atmosphere, fast internet. Good place to stay during the carnival. The biggest problem are only two small bathrooms for all the place.

The hostel is well located, very close to major tourist sites of Pelorinho. From the hostel you can walk on foot the ancient city of Bahia. The neighborhood of the hostel is very safe. The hosts are very friendly and know a lot about the culture and folklore activities performed in Pelorinho. The cleanliness of the hostel is excellent. Must install a panel or a blackboard with daily cultural and artistic activities in Pelouriho or Bahia. The TV should have a better antenna for better viewing of tele

The hostel is very well located, quiet, very clean, near all the attractions of the historic center. Bahia is very beautiful! The staff of the hostel is very nice. Duda gave me precious cultural tips, all the information needed for a good stay. I love to sing, the guitar of Duda with everybody gathered in the reception is great, loved it! The breakfast is wonderful. I love Duda Hostel.100%

The Hostel Owner refused to accept that the 10% downpayment was a deposit and therefore we ended up having to pay 110% of the cost. We tried to explain this with little luck. The Hostel is a good walk from the old centre (10 Min walk) 90 Real is overpriced for poor service and room amenities No Towels Included The Room was not cleaned at all during our 3 night stay. (Something that is standard in most hostels) No option to leave baggage No Storage Space in room

I had a wonderful stay at Duda's. Duda and Indira are very kind and helpful. The hostel´s location is perfect: it's really close to Pelourinho but still a quiet place. I recommend it.

clean hostel and helpful owner. The only problem is the communication, he doesn't speak English well, so it was hardly possible to communicate. Even with my Spanish...

I can highly recommend this place! The owner and other staff are super friendly and helpful with whatever you need. The location is perfect if you want to be close to the old town but not quite in the middle of the "party". There is a great little backyard and balcony upstairs to hang out and have breakfast.
