We had a great weekend at this hostel in sleepy Dulan. Barry, who manages this spot as well as Dulan 102 just down the road, is a great dude who is more than willing to share his local knowledge with guests. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for some relaxation on the beautiful east coast.

Barry (who also runs Dulan 102) saw me walking down the street and grabbed me after passing the guesthouse (which has a tiny faded sign). I booked a dorm but he put me into a single Japanese room for the same price. Comfy bed, nice atmosphere, though no door lock at all. The first floor lounge has spotty wifi which worked maybe 20% of the time. Barry offered me free use of the hostels bikes, and offered me free toast and jam for breakfast as well. Could have done much worse...

1. Nobody at the front desk to welcome us 2. Messed up with the reservation 3. Most dormitories don't have a door. 4. Dormitories are crossed by other travelers who have to reach their dormitories 5. No sheets, only blankets which have been used by previous travelers 6. Super expensive (700NTB) for a bed without sheet in a dormitory without door and crossed by other guests
