The location is conveniently right in the centre of town. The staff were helpful and security in the private room I stayed in was great.

Be prepared for steps and steps as well as staff who are fresh air fiends. Mostly, staff are very helpful. Lack of individual bed lights. Ladder to top bunk - rungs too small for adult foot; also vertical position difficult, especially descending. Doors noisy - felt pads would reduce the din. Need more fridge space and food storage.

Great bed, most comfortable bunk I've slept in yet! Friendly welcome and great common facilities (like tv room). Only issue was the bathrooms, in particular the one next to room 21, the door stuck and the wall was falling apart.

Awesome building right in the middle of town. They have a tv room, a reading room, a drawing room, a dining room and a common room.

2 of us stayed in a double room. The room was spacious, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in & the disabled bathroom was very close & also spacious. The kitchen can get crowded and a little messy but nothing horrific. There's a strict not stealing food policy but someone did steal our honey yoghurt which was a little tragic because that yoghurt is amazing. (Try it if you haven't already - there's a small supermarket nearby!) Parking's an issue but try renting a space

Love this hostel, great location and friendly staff. I gave 4/5 for facilities because shower on my floor was broken (had to cross thru kitchen area to get to a working one, but no big deal) and out of tea on a chilly wet night, which was disappointing. Everything else excellent, highly recommended.

Great little hostel in a fantastic location

A place you can easily get lost in! There's rooms and stairs all over the place - huge games area, good dining and couch area. Wifi only works in games room which was a bit annoying and the showers nearest to my room seemed to be out of order for a long time. But other than that it was pretty tidy and had nice comfy beds, big dorm room etc

Comfortable double room in fascinating old building, centrally situated- this was ideal.

Excellent location, strange layout and awkward spiral stone staircases. That said, a friendly spot right in the centre of Dundee, I would definitely stay here again.

I thought the hostel was brilliant, excellent location, clean enough, basic, with a good games room. I did feel that perhaps the kitchen could do with some new dishes as some of them were really badly chipped and couldn't be used. That's really my only complaint.

We encountered two staff members, one was rude and unhelpful and the other was nice and friendly. Most of the showers were out of order, including those we were directed to by the first mentioned staff member. Many other people staying seemed unaware of the rule about being quiet after 11pm and having a room on the street, near the games room and below the kitchen didn't help. We loved the notice boards about the property and the features that remained, it gives the place a lovely character.

Had trouble finding the hostel despite being only 10 minutes walk from the bus station. Look for a black door opposite the RBS bank and before you reach the Desparate Dan statue. Lovely old building ( the oldest building in Dundee in fact) part of which was a 16th century merchants house. Friendly helpful staff and located right in town centre. The room was a little hot (it was in a heat wave). Nice modern shower but the water got so hot that I had to get out before I had time to rise myself

Room was well laid out and clean. Kitchen area was kept clean through out my stay. Very busy hostel and could be a little intimidating at times especially when using the kitchen. Struggled to find space in the fridge to store food. Some staff much friendlier than others Location was perfect for my commonwealth games experience
