This is a perfect hostel close to all the attractions in DC. Ample public transportation and social life are nearby. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is one of the best maintained hostel I have been in. It should be noted that breakfast is not provided, the hostel has strict policies on not wearing shoes indoors, and no alcohol after 10PM. These are clearly stated in rules. So, if you are looking for a party hostel, this might not be it.

The hostel has everything. Sheets, blanket, pillows and towels. My bed was extremely comfortable. It has three bathrooms (one on every floor), a very well-stocked kitchen, two large refrigerators, places to store food, indoor and outdoor dining, two indoor common areas, and two outside decks (one for smoking on one non-smoking). Also, free wifi. There is storage in every room. We really enjoyed the hostel-hosted Sunday night bar-b-que. Great way to meet and socialize with other travelers.

I love it, except that no sandal is allowed.. Also, if light breakfast was provided, there would be a forum for people to talk to each other.

The stuff treat you like a piece of shxt after you checked out. Not even friendly. Too many rules, can't even drink anything other than water in your room. Terrible experience.

Had a great time, the staff are genuinely friendly and try to make the place feel homely. Plus they have an adorable bulldog that wanders around everywhere.

At first it was a bit weird, the check in process, the no shoes, room in the basement, no alcohol after 10pm etc. but we really enjoyed our time here. The beds are not the greatest but not the worst either, the location is quite convenient, the staff are helpful and try to foster a warm environment and the people we met there were really cool. It wasn't the cheapest though so I would appreciate a free breakfast, the burger night was great though. I would recommend this hostel.

Good Hostel in Chicago. 20 minutes walking from the Museums areas and just two blocks from the train station. I recomment this hostel. The owner provided a lot of informations, the hostel could offer activities (city tour, dinners, etc) to integrate the guests.

Great character and very friendly staff. I liked the shoes-off policy. It may be a couple of blocks further from the main tourist attractions than the IH down the road, but don't let that stop you: you'll have a most enjoyable stay with great people. No alcohol to be drunk on-site after 10pm: this has advantages and disadvantages. My only reservation is that I'm not a big fan of the communal shower design, at least in the men's. (I have no idea if the women's showers have the same layout!)

Generally a good place however the owner has a dog which is kept inside and the place smells. It is very dowdy and closed up (like your grandmas house). Also the place is full of rules!

I am a keen traveller and usually stay at hostels. I don’t think I was lucky, at all, in this occasion. The main staff came across as not friendly or helpful. The room was not ventilated until asked couple of times and a fan was put on after. The bed was shaking, I can barely sleep. I wasn't quite aware if breakfast is provided like most hostels but don't think so. However, the hostel has a good location and the wifi was available inside the rooms.

I really loved staying in Duo hostel. Although rooms are not very spacious and i can imagine that the hostel it's always crowded as i found it, i really had everything i needed. Staff is absolutely kind and available for everything. The building it's in great condition and i loved the terrace...common spaces are verywell kept and enough for all the guests!I would recommend it for sure!

Way too many rules and threats of 'fines of up to $1000' for blocking the toilet haha. This place has no atmosphere and is not conducive to the usual social experience of staying in a hostel. Staff are robotic and patronising. This could be the most over-rated hostel I've ever stayed at.

At first, I wasn't sure of this place because of the immediate security in the front as you come in, plus the emphasis on all the rules (no worries - they're common sense. No weird ones :)). A few minutes later I was on the couch in the common area, watching hockey and meeting new people. This place really made me think I was crashing at a buddy's place, which is awesome! Super helpful friendly staff too. Only thing - there should be curtains over the shower in the ladies room (and more storage)

This was my first time in a hostel and I'd say it was a good experience. The shower situation was a bit awkward but the hostel was clean, the employees were friendly and helpful, and the location was close to tourist attractions. If you have a rental car like I did, parking on the street is a huge pain. The biggest downside is the noisy and rambunctious Latin club/bar next door. I saw fights break out, the music is always loud, and beer bottles get broken. Pretty bad vibe to have so close by.

The location is very strategic, the white house and the national mall is only about 20 minutes of walk away. There is a supermarket next to the hostel, very convenient. The place is clean and I like the clean towel service, where the clean towel is available 24 hours everyday. I like of the free wifi and the 24 hours check-in system. One of the drawback that I can think of is there is a pub near by that make a lot of noise at night.
