Staff is definitely great! Absense of AC can annoy Backhouse guests, I guess) Lots of bathrooms, though, SPACIOUS kitchens... And West Hollywood is reLAtively close

The hostel is in a great location for the price, and the common area is fun to cook and hang out in. Security is below average for hostels in America - front and back doors are always unlocked and the rooms are not locked either. There are small lockers in the common area - not large enough for even a medium sized backpack. Some rooms have bathrooms which can be used by any guest. Sheets provided on arrival were full of long dark hair and mattresses very uncomfortable.

This place is great. I stayed in a bunch of other hostels but this one really stands out. The staff are great, really friendly and very helpful. Very knowledgeable on LA too. I was there on most days that Pedro was on. Always eager to go the extra mile to help you out. Location is great, very central. Most places are just a bus ride away.

I had a mild asthma attack in the bottom floor dorm. The mattress was old. I checked others in the room and they were the same. I asked the supervisor for plastic sheets but they had none. There's not much ventilation in the dorm and no fan/AC. This place is not for those that need a clean mattress for a good night's sleep. Otherwise, its an ok place. I recommend Sir Ruthelen Hostel which is the same price with much better beds.

This is the worst Hostel I've ever been to! There is no character at all, the bathroom rugs are discusting, the bedrooms are way too cramped with no real space to store luggage, it was 90 degrees out when I visited and they didn't have any air conditioning so the hostel was miserable, and to top it off, I got eaten alive by BED BUGS! I checked out early, had to find a new place to stay and spend a beautiful day in laundromat to not bring bed bugs home with me. They won't give me a refund.

Really nice staff especially pedro. Very helpful. House like atmosphere. Can get to the major attractions with one bus that stops less than 100 meters away.

The room I was in had no natural light and was under a flight of stairs and you could hear whenever Simone walked up or down. It ran out of hot water every morning. But the people were friendly and the stag extremely helpful. It want perfect but I'd go back.

Staff was really nice and helpful. It was quiet at night and I liked their no drinking after 11pm policy, so everyone can get sleep. The hostel is right in Korea town, and there's some amazing Korean food in the neighbourhood within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again! :)

The hostel was in a great location close to everything in central LA! The staff were very friendly, and were always keen to give advice on things to do etc, however they could be a bit more professional. They would walk into our room without knocking when the door was closed and at times were so busy with their girlfriend etc that we had to wait to get service. Also, our room leaked from the bath upstairs and there was never enough hot water for all three of us to shower in the morning.

The staff were so helpful with suggestions of what to do in LA. The breakfast was great..American pancakes, so good! Location is quite far from the main sights, we were fortunate enough to have a car but if not there are buses that you can use.

If you only want yo sleep, paying the lowest price, this is an excellent option. The hostel (or the house) doesn't have a good location. Rooms are too small and beds are tighted. Bathrooms are into another bedrooms, so it's a bit awkward.

Great place to stay! Great value for your money. And the staff were simply AMAZING. they made us feel right at home! We LOVED it!! No problem finding parking. Easy to get around. Free pancakes for breakfast and bbq for dinner! I will for sure come back!

The only issue I had was that there are limited bathrooms with some bathrooms being en-suite. En-suite sounds good but it just means that you have many random people coming in and out of your room to use one of the limited bathrooms throughout the night. You also get to hear every squeak from every visitors choice of meal for the day. Security is not exceptionally good since none of the doors are locked; Classic hostel.

Pedro is the coolest. Most approachable. Daniel and Alejandro are tied for next coolest. EZ is improving...less argumentative and knit picking = more likeable Alex was rude and condescending. Needs to check how he talks to people.
