My room, a mixed dormitory, did not issue me a key, not even a locker. I am sure that everything was fine and I had no problems but it does not give one a really great sense of security. Location is great, staff are friendly is a bit disorganized, and the upstairs bar is quite nice.

As mentioned by others, terribly organised, no lockers, creaky beds, 1 shower, 1 western toilet, kept up late by live music in bar downstairs. I would stay again in a flash though. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I had a great time in the bar hanging out with the staff/locals. If you want a fun hostel with character go here! If you just want a place to sleep and early bed, don't.

The bar was cosy and we met a lot of new people. Our room was in a different building to the bar and they were average nothing special. The staff were great though everyone was really friendly and it was great meeting loads of people. Also cheap beer!

Not a real hostel at all - a kind of booking bar with connections to a flea bag Chinese hotel around the corner. Took an hour to find the place, even nearby hotels and locals had no idea where it was - directions vague, map incorrect and simplified to the point of uselessness. On arrival, we were escorted through a dirty, dark bar to a messy bunk bed room serving as an office - then guided by a very efficient and helpful young man to a sleezy hotel around the corner where we actually stayed.

When we arrived, we found out they were full and they had no room for us, and nobody there had heard of hostel world? The staff were all quite useless. Without even an apology we were given the choice of the two beds in the reception room, which is behind a curtain from the bar. Or a room in a dodgy hotel around the corner. So I can't really rate Duolamaer because we didn't stay there! There are nicer hotels in Xi'an...

Looked like the hostel doesn't have a working reservation system. When I arrived there there were already 10 ppl waiting for their beds, all with reservation, bud nothing was free. Had to wait for two hours until I finally had my bed and could sleep. Was around 1 am in the morning. Otherwise top hotel. Very friendly staff and a bar with live music. No lockers! There could be more toilets (just three) and more showers (just one!!!). Waiting time garantied. But all in all I would stay there again!

Disirections to the hostel are rubbish. A lot of staff do not speak english, those that do speak well. No lockers, anyone could walk into the rooms and take your stuff Very disorganised. Little guidance of local knowledge or maps, We struggled to get the address in chinese from the staff Should not have to make beds ourselves needs another shower

Loved the atmosphere of the hostel! Better directions - take the 603 bus from outside the train station, and jump off at the stop before going through the south wall. Then walk up to the south wall so you can touch it, and walk right. Keep walking, cross a road, keep walking and it's on your right. I would definitely stay again. Be prepared for bad organisation and late nights. Facilities are lacking. Good location inside the walls.

Very disorganized. Our booking number meant nothing and only an hour after arriving we were shown to another 'hotel' which was pretty dire. The 'ensuite' had no running water. Fortunately we negotiated a discount, the staff were very apologetic and the rest of our stay they moved us to the rooms in the hostel. They need better directions from North Train Staion (using public transport), another western toilet, more showers, and better cleaning-our bin never got emptied whilst we were there.
