Clean, great value, friendly staff. Awesome views from upstairs kitchen and a pool out back- what more could you want? Superb!

Our room was nice, but noisy with people walking past and traffic. Everything else was fab! and a free continental breakfast!

Loved this hostel.. it was such a nice get away quiet place and the wooden interior decor made the experience so much more nicer.. I felt that the beds were comfy and it was clean, definitely was better hostels in Kaikoura!!

Room was ok apart from if your in the double rooms downstairs anyone who uses the bathroom in any of the double rooms a loud vent noise goes off until it is turned off! Dryers don't work says 2$ for 45 mins used it 3 times and clothes were still damp, reaction I got from reception was that she wasn't a mechanic! So left with a bag full of damp clothes! Kitchen really unorganised could find one sharp knife in both kitchens! In the big kitchen the gas Hobs didn't work, staff knew about the problem

The kitchen was not very clean which is likely to be attributed to the guests staying there at this time. The location is located 15 min far from the town by feet. Room was OK for the price.

This was a great hostel, pool, spa an sauna. Just a very cool place.

This good be such a nice hostel, with a sauna, swimmingpool and hot pool, but it has all come down to maintenance, especially the lack of it.. The kitchen is dirty with lots of broken potts and pans. Same for the toilets and showers.. It is dirty and need some new toilet seats, equipment to clean the toilet, etc. The facilities are great, location is good, but it looks all like no one (the staff) really care.. it is such a pity!

Dorm room in cellar is not comfortable and safety. Door where all the time open straight to open back yard. No lockers in room where to leave luggage. Not enough power sockets. Lightning could me more "individual" or only part of the room. Noise comes from kitchen-living room, which is just above that room. Upstairs rooms might be different.

Really nice. Facilities good two big kitchens on site. Pool was really good nice and clean. Good atmosphere. Rooms clean. Quite a few different seating areas which was nice. Staff really nice and helpful only about 10minute walk to town so not far from anything. Supermarket 10 mins walk in opposite direction

The 10 bed dorm smells of urine really stronlgly, it makes you feel sick! The showers are cold and weak and one time I had to change shower half way through as the water stopped. The toilet leaked. The laundry facilities are awful. No idividual lights in dorms. Nice decking area, good pool and hot tub but could do with some maintenance. Dorm rooms need better security, anyone could just walk in off the street- an electronic key card system with automatic locking door would be better.

We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed it. Only the shared bathrooms are not that good as somewhere else.. The bonecarving workshop with the owner was awsome!

i arrived at the hostel with a booking for a twin bed accommodation through hostel world - written email confirmation. the hostel does not have twin bed accommodation for the price i was quoted. so NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH HOSTEL WORLD. DUSKY LODGE WERE GREAT!

Wonderful hostel, the nicest place I've stayed in new Zealand and great value for money!
