The EDU Hostel is something between a Hostel and a Hotel. Very large and very well organized. Location is good, you can go in 15min to the city center by foot. minus point's only because it is to large to be personal and cosy. If you like that it is perfect. When I was there it was full packed with people what makes it quite noisy. But it is complaining on high level. EDU Hostel is really good and I would go there every time again.

A pretty good hostel, amazing rooftop patio!! 20 min walk from the city centre, which is kinda a pain if you are a solo female traveler. The bathrooms have a terrible smell, I think it is the water. Also only wifi in the lobby which is a huge let down. But beds are comfortable and very clean. Staff was super nice and helpful. Breakfast is Indonesian but delicious. Overall would recommend but just know what you are getting into.

Excellent new hostel. Brand new, extremely clean and with all the facilities (good food, reasonably priced tours, wi-fi) that you would associate with a hostel in the west. Its good value means it attracts a lot of Indonesian travellers as well which is great to meet locals. Location is not within the main Jl Malioboro tourist strip but is an easy 15 min walk away and a Transjogya bus stop is about 5 min walk. Breakfast was great Indo food in large quantities and dorms are spotless with lockers.

Nice and super clean hostel. Location is quite good, 10 minutes walk to Malioboro street. Quite big hostel, so lacking a character bit, but staff is still friendly and atmosphere is good. Each dorm has its own toilet and showers (plus!!!). Good local breakfeast. Nice common area with sofas, bean bags, guitars and TV. Not an perfect place to meet other travellers, but I still met some great people there. If you are looking for cheap, clean and nice-enough place to stay, this is your choice.

the room was ok, but in common areas, especially during breakfast time, the noise was too much.

everything was great, except for the fact that wifi should be available everywhere, not only at the lobby.

The hostel was good and modern, staff were fine (helpful) and you are fairly near everything. Its a good place to base yourself in Yogyakarta. Not exceptional, but still pretty good. Rooms are nice and air-conditioned and the showers/bathrooms are good. You have a locker too (without lock).

EDU Hostel's locatioan is easy to access. The staffs provide us good services, clean room & bathroom. The simple breakfast with traditional javanese cuisine also make us to think stay for more time in Jogja.

Could be a little noisy since this hotel is often booked by large groups. They didn't clean the toilet that much, at least not from our room

Clean, modern backpacker hostel. Perfect for travelers on a budget. Comfy chill out areas in the lobby, clean beds and bathrooms and morning breakfast at the rooftop! Wonderful experience!

Very clean and comfortable hostel. A bit cold character, not as cosy as I would have liked. Huge minus is only male or female dorms, no mixed dorms = limited social potential. Nice staff, but no english professors. Wifi only in the lobby, not in the rooms, inconvenient. But overall a good hostel.

Good hostel, value for money, food is delicious but the shower room has unplesant smell. There was once a guest off the AC and kept the remote controller, good to fix the remote controller to the wall. Anyway thanks to Edu for pleasant experience.

Incredible, to find a hostel with this type of standards in a Third World country, constructed by a private Indonesian family. Fantastic to sit on the upstairs roof, enjoying the free breakfast in the morning.

Nice hostel, great beds, very clean. It is a very big hostel though, with lots of big groups. This has a negative influence on the atmosphere. The groups can be pretty annoying. The room I got was by the way far away from the groups, so I could sleep perfectly. The roof terrace is great! Too bad there is no music, bar or entertainment up there.

arrived at the hostel at 9pm sweating like a pig and exhausted from the day's journey. they told me that only rupiahs were accepted. usually hostels accept dollars as well but i didn't contest. i asked if there was any way i could pay them in the morning after i had settled into my room and washed up while they kept my passport to bar me from leaving the area and they said no so i walked 30 minutes to find the nearest money changer just to pay them. "policy" they said... very disappointed.

Nice, clean, and secure. Families and school groups stay here often so it's not a very social hostel, but it's a short pedicab ride to most things. They will set you up with a tour company to set up a tour to the temples.
