The owners are a lovely couple. Very friendly, open, helpful. The private room is big and clean. The downside is that the room is very bright, so bring something if that's something that bothers you.
The area is not the best, gara du nord is awful, but you feel safe at all times in the whole city, it just looks very bad.
I'd recommend this hostel, mostly because of the owners, so you can get a little taste of Bucharest! The owners are a lovely couple. Very friendly, open, helpful. The private room is big and clean. The downside is that the room is very bright, so bring something if that's something that bothers you.

The personal touches that Iulia and Christian offer the East Hostel experience rival that of staying at a friend's house! REAL breakfast (eggs, sausage) got us off to a great start touring the Parliament building, which Christian booked in advance. Most impressive and wonderful was how the staff took the time to kick back and chat with us about life in Romania and beyond. The detailing of the interior is absolutely charming. Will return and recommend! The personal touches that Iulia and Christian offer the East Hostel experience rival that of staying at a friend's house! Location is conveniently located between the city center and the central station-- perfect for stopovers in Bucharest. Beds are ridiculously comfortable, which makes it difficult to get up in the morning for the delicious breakfast.Location is conveniently located between the city center and the central station-- perfect for stopovers in Bucharest. Stayed for football match 2 nights, good hostel. Staff even speak to Taxi Drivers for you. You dont get a front door key reception manned 24\7.Dont judge it from the outside. We never had any problems. N.B.Taxi drivers can rip off in this city. Stayed for football match 2 nights, good hostel. Staff even speak to Taxi Drivers for you. A very convenient hostel. Emailed directions excellent - the only problem was that (though there is a small sign, despite what some other reviewers have said), the buzzer is not.A very convenient hostel. East is beautiful!!! Don\'t let the outside fool you, one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in!!! The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly, the breakfast is great!!! and the restaurant down the road is really quite cheap and serves delicious food. Is easy to find if coming from Gara de Nord-just walk down Calea Grivitei, if coming from the airports, invest in a cab w/ GPS (or take the express train to Gara de Nord).
