Great spot for visiting Tayrona. Main parts of the park are still 1.h hr hike, but unless you stay in the park you cant get closer. Kitchen staff were amazing!
Great hostel for relaxing and access to Tayrona. Biggest downsides are its location by a pretty busy road which can make it a bit tough to get to sleep, and the family oriented atmosphere, this obviously can be an upside for some people, just know that coming in. The upsides, very close proximity to Tayrona, within walking distance to the entrance, and the natural beauty of the hostel and the general style of the buildings, it's very nice to look at. Great staff, great facilities.
Yuluka is peaceful & quiet. The wifi doesn't work, the staff doesn't speak English, breakfast is good - granola & milk or scrambled eggs & toast. It's easy to catch a bus to Santa Marta, 45-50 minutes away (despite the hostel saying they are only 20 minutes away). Keep in mind that buses stop running in the evening. I tried to get a bus from Santa Marta to Yuluka at 6pm but was forced to take a taxi. No ATM in town. Roommates were all in bed by 9:30p & awake by 6:30am, it's that kind of place.
What an amazing place! I could stay here forever. Such a breath of fresh air! Very clean! The breakfast is incredible, I miss it. Really friendly staff especially the 2 Argentinian girls, always so helpful. Free car ride to el tayrona park between 8-9am which is really nice or you can just walk straight down the road which is just over a km, will take 20-30 mins. Thank you so much for a pleasurable stay.
