Very friendly staff, guests pay 15% less at lovely cafe next door. The privates in another very close building are poorly secured (especially the twin on ground floor eithout even a proper window and light, and noisy, so better be upstairs. Incredible centrsl location.

only stayed at the private room so i can only comment on that. Private rooms are away from the main building and are attended with no staff at night. Potential security hazard. Rooms are spacies and reasonably equiped so good value for money. Some staff are attentive to your needs but some certainly got their attitudes! Can be improved.

Great hostel overall! The rooms were big, clean, and the beds were comfortable, and the people were awesome, very friendly. The staff was also very knowledgeable and able to give tips on restaurants, tours, etc. The free Edinburgh walking tour was great too. The only thing was how cold the bathrooms were- seriously, worse than stepping outside.

If you have a little bit money I advise everyone to get a double room in 34a Cockburn Street!

I had a lovely stay - room was clean and warm, staff friendly and the location perfect when you need to get to or from the station!

The lass on reception was great, really friendly and full of information. I was in the private rooms bit, which meant I had a massive room with a tv and bathroom all to myself. The hostel's right in the centre of Edinburgh's old town and is only a couple of minute's walk from Waverley station. Ace.

I have stayed at this hostel numerous times and I would return again in a heart beat. It has everything you need to make yourself comfortable.The staff are amazing especially the little blond Aussie at reception. They gave me all the info needed to sight see, go out at night and even day trips. The staff really are the best asset to the hostel :) Thank you for a wonderful time and hopefully be seeing you soon!

Great location and value for money. Staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean, highly recommended place to stay, will definitely stay there again.

No need for staff to be rude or evasive. They just need to be honest about things. The hostel was good value for money and a great location. Showers in "other " building were great, good hot water, but could use a bit more cleaning..

The location is great, very near to the bus station and near to the bus that comes from the airport; it's very easy to find and is located in a walking distance from the main tourist attractions., shops, restaurants and so on. I stayed in a room for 5 people and the beds were clean and tidy, The hostel offers plenty of activities (pub crawl, walking tour and so on), free wifi in the common areas & rooms.There's a kitchen,so you can save money.It's great value for money,i would stay there again

The place is great! Location is awesome. The hostel has a clean environment and the staff was good also. The only big problem was that I had to change building to get internet access. No internet near the rooms.

I only wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a twin room with ensuite. Everything was fine, bed comfortable, shower clean, no lockers in ours but I guess you only need them in dorms when you're sharing with unknowns. We had our own keys to building and room, its good security into the common areas, the wifi worked well (just not available in the building next door if you stay there). Even without the discounts, the Southern Cross cafe would have been delicious and good value! Recommended.

Hogmanay was overpriced for a shoe box but the people who worked there were good and the breakfast deal was great too... Showers were communal (bad), no wifi in the forgotten building (bad)... Thanks for the shot at the start!

Expensive, unclean, smelled, rude staff at times that were slow and uninformative. No lift and alot of stairs. Good location close to train and main streets. Good Cafe next door with food.
