A very friendly place in the heart of Edinburgh. The location is perfect for night life and it's in a walking distance from train and bus stations. I would stay there again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Edinburgh Backpackers. We were in one of the private rooms on the top floor. Our room was very nice and even had a heater in the room which was great since it got cold at night. Though we had to share a bathroom with the other rooms one floor down, this wasn't a big downside. The staff though were great. They helped us book tours and told us where to go out at night. If I come back, I'll definitely look to stay here again.

A tiger friendly hostel, great location, ticks most boxes. A little strange compared to normal hostels as there are so many long termers eg. aussies italians and spanish. most very friendly though. 10am checkout is too early, and the room cleaning starts bang on 10am each morning so it's a legit 10am checkout. Bit hard to find room in fridges, but otherwise facilities are pretty good. Free earplugs at reception was a nice touch. I extended three times, possibly alcohol related. roar

I enjoyed my stay at Edinburgh backpackers. We fortunately had the room with all good people around with no disturbance. Although was not much happy with the kitchen but it was OK as we never cooked anything in the kitchen.

We were in a private room which was separate to the main building which meant no wifi. The room was small and basic but had everything you need including a TV. Can't fault anything else. Absolute stunning location right in the middle of Royal Mile the main strip. Cafe below did a tasty and cheap breakfast and also offered discounts off everything to backpackers. All staff in the cafe and hostel were friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to stay!

Very friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. Stayed on Fleshmarket Close instead of in the main building, and there was no wifi. Also, it can be very noisy at night, especially on weekends - bring earplugs. People don't always close the doors all the way, either. I'd come back to find that I didn't need the key because both doors were slightly cracked open. The rooms are pretty decent, and mine had a TV, which was a nice surprise. All in all, good value for the money, and can't beat the location.

The hostel was in an excellent location. Probably the best thing about it - right next to the train station and just off the Royal Mile so walking distance to everything. Unfortunately the hostel was incredibly noisy at night (although I did stay at the weekend) and it was impossible to sleep as noise echoed around everywhere. The room itself was fine. The female bathrooms were only on every other floor so if you are on the 3rd floor you have to go down or up a floor to use them. Not bad in all.

Awful hostel experience. Room was in a separate building in a dark alley with loud drunk people passing through at night. One female shower didn't work, the other had no hot water, both bathrooms were dirty. The building in general was extremely loud, every time someone entered it the room shook form doors slamming and floor creaking. Didn't feel safe at all.

The location is absolutely perfect. I think there couldn't be any better location in Edinburgh. Staff was nice, facilities as well. Kitchen worked as it should have, so did our room. The only little "problem" was that we had room in another building than the reception was and there was no wi-fi.

We were in the double room bulding so my ratings are a bit different of what they would have been if we were in the hostel. Very nice and calm, decent room (except for the phonic isolation maybe). The Value for price is good to very good during the week but become quite poor as the price doubles on week ends!!! Careful, the red door does not close very well. The staff also gets really busy and it's sometimes pretty hard to talk to them.

Terrible reception lady asked us to pay the full hostel price not the price without deposit which appear on the hostelworld booking paper and told us that those money is for hostelworld not them so we should pay more than expected. Change our original reserved room and let us stay in a smelly room which located in other building with no hot water for shower. Bad attitude and always ignore us for no reason. Don't like here and gave us a bad impression about Edinburgh, people and hostelworld.

on the 2nd floor there was no hot water so we all had to shower on the 4th floor..The staff is super friendly, you have big lockers in your room to keep your valuables safe...The location is awesome! Wifi worked only in the common areas, not in our room :( Kitchen was crowded sometimes but I guess ppl like to cook :)
