As we stayed during Hogmanay at New Years the room was quite expensive, but cost aside, our stay was a good experience. Rooms quite small, but liked that breakfast was provided. Overall - really happy and would definitely go back if staying in Edinburgh (if rooms are cheaper!)

This hostel has a very good location, everything is reachable in walking distance. However there were many things that we didn't like about the hostel: -really filthy, especially the showers which were full of hair --the staff was hangovered all the time and were not very nice -the food they served for breakfast was very poor, the milk served had already expired -they accomodated 6 people in a 4 bed room so someone was in our beds when we arrived back to our room in the evening.

Great for a uni group of 10 - no curfew and close to town so easy to get back after a night out. they had no problem with us pre drinking in the room or getting back at 4 am. not sure if i would reccommend it for individual travellers but the free breakfast was a welcome perk. Deffinately would think about taking a group back there again. The front door was open all night but our dorm room was lockable and there was someone on reception till late.

hostel is right next to princes street in the middle of edinburgh city centre. have been twice and will definitely continue to go back. staff go out of their way to ensure guests are comfortable and having a good time, even taking us out to some night clubs as we weren't familiar with the city. couldn't have asked for more. I've had no problems with this hostel and would definitely choose it over somewhere like travelodge. It isn't a 5 star hotel but offers so much more for such a low price.

We book for a 6 bed en suite dorm, but they move us to a 10 bed mixed dorm. They told us that we're the only occupants in that room, but when we moved in, there were other 2 occupants who came late at night which disturb our sleep. We are extremely disappointed, how could we trust them again?

THIS IS NOT A BACKPACKER HOSTEL. It was full of locals on Stag and Hen parties. Doors needed slammed to lock. We took the en-suite four bed room, with door which did not shut properly. Reception told us not to get up for breakfast cause it would be a lazy day with hangovers. His friend he was drinking with came into our room at 5.40 am looking for a bed to sleep in, woke us up putting a light in our face, and left our door unlocked the rest of the night. People drunk shouting till 7 am in hostel

Excellent location. Helpful staff. Main problem is the lack of a quiet common room : the only communal space is the kitchen/diner and it can get very full and noisy at weekends. Other faults are common to most hostels : lack of hooks in the bathrooms and litter-bins in the bedrooms. But a good hostel for using as a crash-pad if you are out all day.

This hostel is what you expect from a hostel. Bunk beds inside a room with most people looking to hang out in the common room. If you go to a hostel and expect to stay in your room then hostels aren't for you. There common room also served as a kitchen (loaded with cooking essentials and spices and more) and there was a fully stocked grocery store next door so you could make a meal. The men running the hostel are really down to earth, easy to work with and hilarious. overall a good stay.

Nice Hostel. Decent beds, clean sheets, Cornflakes toast and orange juice included for breakfast. Guys on the desk were random but really nice. Only downside was only one toliet one shower on my floor, for two rooms but it wasnt too bad, just communal teeth brushing...

I felt like I was staying in someone I knows house. The rooms were comfortable and everything was spotless. I'd been expecting problems with being able to use the toilets from reading other reviews online but there were no such problems! Security was very good and staff were friendly. Overall I really enjoyed the stay.

Terrible place Worst hostel I've never stayed in.We turned up on a busy Saturday night with a booking,to be told was double booked & we didn't have a place.Explained that as it was down to them,& we had a confirmed reservation, that it was now up to them to find us an alternative.Manager was rude, didn't care, kept saying it wasn't his problem,it was his business he could run it how he wanted.True up to point, but he was still obliged to find us an alternative. From what we saw, was pretty disgustin

Too many beds in one room, most keys of lockers are missing, kitchen very small and no living room, just big table in kitchen with no room to move around it. N Location is very central, but it is not load ... water in showers always hot. For 1-2 nights good, if you can't find anything better. No computer to enter internet - need to bring your own.

The staff went out of their way to help and upgraded me into a smaller room even though I hadn't requested to change. The breakfast was more than sufficient and there was free Wi-Fi available. I couldn't log on to the system using my laptop so they allowed me to use there own computer. I sat and watched a film in the evening with the chaps on Reception and was always made to feel welcome. One shower per floor was a problem as it was busy at peak times. Clean but in need of some TLC.
