It is a very nice hostel, but when you book and there is no vacancy they put you at Dreaming Dragon nearby. It is a very cool hostel. No atmosphere.

I stayed for a quick one night in the single room, had a very warm and informative welcome and a fairly good nights sleep - unfortunately the neighbours liked their radio on full blast from 7am, but what can you do?!

Located a five minute walk from a central MRT station, the main point in favor of this hostel is location. I booked a double private, the room was clean, well furnished, with an excellent bed. Staff friendly, common facilities good. Three complaints. First, the bathroom was in need of repair. Second, we waited fifteen minutes for assistance checking out.

We have noticed the bathroom problem, but during the new Chinese New Year we can't find any plumber to help us! Now the problem is already solved! Checking-out should be an easy procedure, we just need to give you the key deposit back, somehow you waited for 15 mins? Maybe our staff was cleaning and you can't find her? Sorry for the inconvenience caused!! We hope you enjoyed your Chinese new year here with us! Thank you for your opinions!

Very well located. Close to subway station. Using subway we can go wherever we want in Taipei. First time I stayed here. Second time they put me in Dreaming Dragon nearby, but it has not the same atmosphere like Eight Elephants.

wifi internet: slow room: small, dirty bathroom: not filled with toilet paper all the time shower room: not providing hot water all the time. i cant take shower in an exchange of hot water and freezing water in the same time. kitchen: dirty and small corridor: narrow and dirty, filled with extra large luggage duration during my stay in 8 elephants: guests got drunken and peed in my room, moreover, he peed(vomited?) in the living room, sofa will not consider this place anymore even with low price

We're really sorry for any inconvenience caused! For the internet, we have the highest speed that Taipei can offer. The slowness may be due to the fact that we had a large number of guests staying here during the Chinese New Year-that was most likely what slowed down the connection. As for the lack of hot water and toilet paper, we will definitely check more often in the future-- thank you for bringing this to our attention! In response to our cluttered corridor, we sometimes have guests with later flights who still want to spend the day in the city after they check-out. We allow them to leave their luggage with us in the corridor for their convenience. Please notify our staff if anything is in your way, we will be more than happy to move the items for you. Lastly, regarding the guest who urinated in the living room, we really could not foresee this situation. It happened in the middle of the night, when there was no staff around. Therefore, we weren't able to take care of it right away. The guest cleaned the floor by himself the next morning, and the sofa was immediately cleaned by our staff as well. There is absolutely no smell or trace anymore. We apologize greatly for this. If you face any problems during your stay, we encourage you to tell our staff so that we can do our best to help you. Thank you for staying with us. We hope that you still had a good time in Taipei.

After rating this hostel as flawless I said to myself "surely no hostel is perfect, I must be able to find at least one flaw," and thought maybe I should complain that there is no big flashy sign outside. Then I realized how out of place and vulgar a large sign would have been. Eight Elephants is not a Hilton nor a McDonald's, it is a place of humble beauty where a traveler can sleep feeling like a part of Taiwan during their stay, more local than "outsider," more community than "customer."

I stayed at Eight Elephants for 9 nights in Taipei, and I would highly recommend it! The location is perfect, and the staff members are very helpful and friendly. I stayed in the mixed dorm room and met some really cool people who I'll continue to stay in touch with.

A friendly atmosphere ; nice people, guests as well as staff . All the facilities, and the way Sara manages the place, make you feel almost like at home. The small "terrace" at Dreaming Dragon is pleasant for a cup of tea...

Clean and well-organized hostel. Staff members were quite friendly and helpful. The location is great, very near the Guting metro station, so it was easy to get around the city via public transportation. The hostel is tucked away in an alley so it can be hard to find at first. There is no sign, just the hand writing on the front door. Overall, I had a pleasant stay.

Overall, one of the best hostel stays in taipei. Conveniently located in the middle of taipei making getting around the city very easy. Sara, the staff was nice enough to show us around the area on the first night and took us to Shida night market. We stayed in the Dreaming Dragon which is right next door to Eight elephants. Taipei street food is bomb! so enjoy your stay in Taiwan.

Great. I really enjoyed my stay. It was nice to be out of the centre of Taipei. The EE hostel is very cosy and comfortable, the staff are relaxed, helpful and friendly. If I came back to Taipei this is probably where I'd stay again.
