Really nice staff who were very helpful. Tuk tuks are always available outside. Bar was good, it was easy to chat to people and pool was a plus. Other people in our dorm were lovely and friendly.

Great hostel. Made a few friends but the lay out needs some work. It would be better to have a few big tables instead of all the small tables. Plus the food is a bit pricey and not all that good. Loved the room though. The internet is a bit off&&on too.

Thanks for your feedback. We are in the process of improving our layout so thanks for the confirmation that we are doing the right thing! I am really disappointing to hear your review of our food. Usually the reviews are very good so I can only put this down to a one off occasion. Great to hear you loved the room :) The internet in Cambodia is a bit like that. We have recently improved our speed, routers and coverage to make it the best you can get! Enjoy the rest of your travels :)

It was great having a pool and the bar downstairs, but it was quite loud at night since our dorm had windows backing directly onto the bar. it would have been nice if they turned it down a little after 11 pm.

Thanks for your feedback and its great that you enjoyed your time with us here at Eighty8! The dorm you stayed in is our cheapest dorm and advertised as above the bar. If we are quiet at the bar in the evening, we do start to wind the music down early but if not we keep it going until 12am. We understand the sleep needs of travelers so we never let it go on later than this. Thanks again. Safe travels :)

During my two night stay at Eighty8 was able to meet a bunch of awesome people as well as party hard. Adam behind the bar is the absolute man. Highly recommended to people traveling through phnom penh. Great bar and pool set up w awesome food in a hot ass city.Outside of the homie Adam staff is very friendly except one fellow behind bar. I tried to order ice cream at 1030 and he told me kitchen closed at 10 when it doesn't take much to get a damn scoop of ice cream from a freezer. Overall sweet

Thank you for your comments and feedback. Its great to hear when our staff go above and beyond to meet the expectations of our customers. Even if that is serving ice cream after our kitchen has closed. You now have a legacy at Eighty8...The man that brought ice cream onto our late night snack menu :) Enjoy your travels and if you make it back here, you can have some ice cream on the house :)

Staff was very friendly (specially Sam duty manager) but I had a problem with one guy who work behind the bar. I got the menu, I choose my food but he was too busy talking with one beautiful girl in the bar. I wait and wait... After a while 4 girls arrived and asked for a beer. He served those girls and them i thought now was my turn when another girl arrived and just beside me and he went to her to help with the menu. I wait exactly 10 min and I left. He was drunk and annoying.

Great place! Loved our stay here. We especially liked that have tuk tuk drivers there for tours.... We didn't need to haggle... Prices were there and fair. The rooms were great except that they have a curtain instead of bathroom door. There was 0 privacy which isn't great

Great to hear :) We have done our best to make things as easy as possible for all of our guests so that they can get the most of their time in Phnom Penh. Giving our customers a fair, safe and reasonable price to go and visit all of the must see tourist destinations in Phnom Penh is just part of that. Thanks for your feedback regarding the door, we are looking to change this as soon as we can. Enjoy the rest of your travels :)

Pretty decent hostel. Staff were friendly, and the bar drinks were very fairly priced. Pool was super murky, though - you couldn't see the bottom. I didn't even think about getting in.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thank you for your comments and feedback. We also use only use branded ingredients and fresh fruits in almost all of our drinks! Apologizes about the pool, we put the wrong cleaning chemical into it during your stay and the result was a murky pool. The pool is now fully restored to how it should be :) So sorry once again that you missed out on using the pool during your stay! Safe travels!

English staff were standoffish and unwelcoming. Reception wasn't all that helpful with enquiries.

The toilet in our room was not working and staff was hesitant to change our room. In the end they did so this was not a disaster. The sheets were a little stained. You are not allowed to eat outside food in the common area.

Great place to stay but do not book tours here. You can book the same tours at the travel agents for much cheaper.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Thank you for your feedback! I am pleased that you had a great stay with us. We actually make no money from our tours, all of the money goes to the tuk tuk drivers. The price that is advertised is a guide price only. A price that we think is fair and reasonable for both for the tuk tuk drivers and the customers. This is explained next to the adverts for all of our tours. You are open to barter the price down if you wish with them as we provide just a guide price. Enjoy the rest of your travels!

Be forewarned that there is currently construction/renovations going on here. The early morning hammering served as my alarm clock. The hostel has potential. The pool and chill out area downstairs is nice, the food is good and the bedrooms are decent. But the staff seems really unorganized and were not the friendliest. I changed my booking on arrival from one night to two and they seemed very distraught over the matter. Quite a long walk to anything in town. Tuk tuk recommended.

During your stay there were small renovations going on next door. I apologise if this disturbed you during your stay but this was out of out of our control. I am really surprised to hear about your experience checking in. Our staff are generally really nice, helpful and friendly. Enjoy the rest of your travels.

Overall this is a good place to stay. The highlight was the pool, which is in the sun, so you can cool off but its still warm and seating around the outside is in shade. Location is a bit out of town but tultuks don't cost too much and you can walk to the night market. The manager seems quite stretched and stressed and got a bit aggrevated when i said that the shower wasnmt working (it actually was but the switch had been turned off as no instructions). Has lockers if you bring a padlock.

We also love our relaxing pool area. It is like a little oasis when you step off the streets in Phnom Penh into Eighty8 and can cool off in our pool. Our team are dedicated, work hard and strive to make Eighty8 a safe, customer friendly social environment. It would appear that even stretched, your issue was resolved. As we always do with any issues, resolve them as fast as possible. Thank you for the feedback though, some instructions can help other guests :) Enjoy the rest of your travels!

Staff lovely and very helpful, pool nice, but food served in bar area not great. Apart from that rooms very clean and really good A/C. Would stay here again

Great hostel! The only reason I'm not giving this place a 100% is the location, but that being said it only takes you 2 bucks to get you almost anywhere in the city. Foods great, staff are friendly, and the poolside atmosphere will keep you entertained all day if you dexude not to leave for the day.

Nice hostel: clean, good atmosphere to meet new people, nice restaurant and great swimming pool. Beds are very big as well. The only downside is the location: the only place they have normal breakfast is at the hostel itself, which is quite expensive. That was the reason why we moved to the center after three nights. But we definitely liked the vibe here. would stay here again!

The dorm room where we stayed was comfortable, but there are 3 things i would say to prospective customers, 1) there are no locks on the dorm room doors 2) the hostel is unsecure. Lots of tuk tuk drivers and their children come into the hostel to use the bathroom and could very easily go upstairs to the (unlocked) rooms with no one seeing them. 3) the location is not great, there is a (amazing) local restaurant next door for breakfast but to eat/do anything else you need to catch a tuk tuk.

Owner Comment (Hide)
There are locks on every dorm room and private rooms' doors. Like all handle sets in Cambodia, there is a button that you push in on the door knob that is on the inside side of the room to lock the door. We have never had an issue with a customer failing to understand how this works, you are our first! If you would have spoken to us during your stay we could have easily shown you. There are loads of these amazing local restaurants along with our own around the hostel.

Eighty8 Phnom Penh is one of the best hostels we have stayed at in our last 2+ years of travelling in South America, Europe and now South East Asia. Friendly reception, bar and cleaning staff. Lovely air-con dorms.

Excellent hostel with friendly and accommodating staff. The pool and bar area on the first floor was the perfect way to cool off after a long day visiting the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Museum. About 10 minutes walk away from the Night and Central Market and right around the corner to Wat Phnom and Riverside. Would definitely stay again!!
