I stayed here twice and plan to stay again before leaving SEA. In my opinion it is more or less the best hostel I have ever stayed in. It has a large lively bar area and pool which is great for being social or just relaxing with a drink. It was always a relief to get back into the oasis like courtyard after a hectic day in town. Be warned the relaxed vibe can result in very lazy behavior. I stayed in a private room on both occasions which was basic but immaculate. Highly recommended.
The facilities and staff are amazing and I met some wonderful people here. The only downside is the location. It's a short tuk tuk ride away from the city center and not in a neighborhood that you would want to walk around at night in. Other than that, it's an excellent place!
Everything was very good except for one thing…..the music????? played over the speaker system it was appallingly terribly atrocious. Head banging stuff.
I loved this hostel! Everything worked perfectly and the staff was very friendly. Plus they have a restaurant with cheap food and drinks (which are super good) and tuk tuk drivers in front of the door that helps you out a lot. The bedroom is very clean and the beds are spacious!
The best place to stay at Phenom Pehn! The staff are fantastic and so so helpful. A big thank you to Sam, Peter, Mannet and Srey No for a pleasurable stay.

I loved staying here! The absolute highlight of my trip to Phnom Penh. The staff here are so accomodating and lovely. The bar staff are super friendly and the food is great! The dorms were cleaned every day, the pool was amazing and tours/tickets/motorbikes easy to book thru the staff. Awesome atmosphere, partied hard and met so many new friends. Dont come here if you cant handle fun, music and excellent late night banter.
I have to say that the reason mentioned the hostel was low on atmosphere is THE NOISE! This is the kind of hostel which has some nice things, such as a restaurant and a beautiful balcony, but the bar does not close till midnight or 1 a.m. And the noise of thumping pounding music penetrates the entire building, preventing sleep. This was important to me because I'd been out partying for a few nights and needed sleep which I could not get. I had to get an early buts the next day to Sihanoukville.
The location is a little far from city center. The female 6 beds dorm room is clean. Staff friendly. The only bad side is they never respond to my email about the free pick up to the hostel as listed.
Partyhostel, loud music till 12 a.m.. apart from that a nice place to meet people in the bar/pool area. also good and quite affordable food all day long. staff is very welcoming and helpful. even remembered me when i came back after a week. room was clean and shower was very good (mixed dorm).
Hard to beat this place. It looks like a nice hotel with swimming pool, except it's for backpackers. Facilities are good, the bar serves nice food (luckily because I wasn't impressed with local food) and the beer is reasonably priced. Happy hour is a good time to meet people. Only con: Wifi is really, really slow. For cheap bus tickets, go to the bus station just around the corner.
Overall an excellent stay. Staff were really helpful. and the bar and food were great too. Only slight downside is the shower was poor.
The staff is helpful and will do their best to try to accommodate your needs. Plenty of local tour options are available and the general room, bar, restaurant is quite pleasant. The food is good and reasonably priced.
The hostel has the potential to be good, if not great. What lets eighty8 down the most is it's staff. For example when we checked in, a member of staff said they had lost our booking so in order to stay there we had to pay for an upgrade. Obviously we refused. After 10 minutes they finally agreed to let us stay at the original price. Following this the shower wouldn't work. Their response was "we will sort it tomorrow." Unbelievable. Then the drivers linked to the hostel tried to rip us off.
The most amazing hostel ever! I stayed here for 4 nights, then booked back in 10 days later myself when I needed to come back to Phnom Penh. All the staff are happy to help and interested to talk. I'd 100% recommend staying here!
I arrived at Eighty8 after an 8 hour trip from koh rong with a sickness bug/ food poisoning. The staff were amazing!! Thank you guys!! Helped me to my room, offered to get a doctor or go to the pharmacy, made me a cup of tea! Just what i needed! The hostel itself is awesome, the bar and pool area is great for socialising (not that i did due to illness) and the location is great. the beds were comfy and rooms were fine, i even showered without flip flops on!
The common room 88 is very nice looking and comfortable. The beds were ok (for asia). There was hot water but only if you held the nozzle below your waist which meant you had to squat to shower. The food and drinks were reasonable and if was not far from the river and the main eating areas. Beware of the stairs they can be quite steep.
No hot water at all during my stay, wifi only available in bar area & was often too slow to be usable. Power points in dorm rooms were inaccessible and of the 4 plugs, only 2 actually worked. Not many good places to eat around the hostel - had to go to Riverside area for better options. Laundry was great though and I appreciated the wide bed in my dorm as well as the lockers.
We had a good stay here, the staff was nice enough and helped arrange boat and bus tickets as well as tours. The food at the bar was delicious and cheap and the atmosphere in the lounge area was very nice. There wasn't much to do directly around the hostel, but it was easy enough to take one of the tuk-tuks that had connections with the hostel and waited outside for guests in need of a ride.
It was an okay hostel to stay at. Just an average place, although the bar area was a good place to relax. It had a good vibe. The food was a little disapointing: we were always wondering where the other half of the meal was. The staff was okay, but it felt like they didn't enjoy their job. Overall feeling was just an average stay.
