This time around stayed in a double and loved it. They may seem expendive initally for a hostel but are actually pretty good value for money with nice thoughtful touches more like a good b

It is a bit of surf hostel but a good one. You are made to very welcome from the moment you get there regardless of how busy it is (we were slightly off season but the first couple of nights the place seemed full) and I think that is its biggest selling feature. Dorms are well dorms maybe a bit dark but comfortable/roomy. Facilities were good, although fixing the stove so more gas comes out would be helpful and a through clean would do the place lots of good (its not dirty though). Will be back

Definitely recommend renting the motorcycles and traveling up the coast through the park.

When I decided to travel to Uruguay for a few days at the beach, I asked several travellers recommend a destination and a place to stay. Four out of the 5 people recommended Punta del Diablo, and El Tranquilo Diablo. From the moment I arrived (a day late, which was no problem) the staff have been welcoming, inclusive and helpful, so much so, I extended my stay from 1 week to 4 weeks! Spending autumn at the beach, watching storms, and reading in front of an open fire has never been so fabulous

Great hostel, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are a bit cramped. Internet is fast. Even though someone cleans the place every day it is only a surface clean - some things are never touched, spider webs in easily reached places and a swarm of flies are always hanging around the common area. But it's not like it's filthy and I'd stay there again.

Beautiful building to arrive at early in the morning. Very comfortable private room and clean bathrooms. Dinner each night is delicious nice outdoor area too. Bring cash to Punta as there's no ATMs in the village. Would love to go back and chill out with the beach so close and the town also. Staff were very helpful and welcoming too!

Stayed here out of season and still had the best time. Highly recommended. Eating dinner and hanging out with the staff every night was a highlight. Futher, they allow you to charge things to your tab and pay by card at the end without any extra charges. Considering there are no cash points in the town, this was a god send!

E.D.T has 2 hostels: one facing the beach, nice to chill, great views & bar. The other is 2 minutes up the street and is more like a standard party hostel. Both have average services: I´ve stayed at the oceansuites (sea view, very nice) then switched to a DBL bunkbed shared bathroom (ok), and then a private dbl (USD 90 with no A/C or fan!). Staff is from all around the world, more interested in their coworkers & party than in service to travellers. Locals were great. No managers available.

Location, atmosphere and staff may be the three key factors of this hostel. They offer a wide variety of activities such as surf classes, horse rides and yoga. The staff is very helpful and there's a 24/7 reception desk. If you are gonna be staying in the dorms aside the hostel (AKA La Favela) I wouldn't pay more than usd12 a night. Honestly, very crapy rooms but worth if you are running on a budget

I spent the first night in an inside room and the remaining three nights in the outdoor rooms. The outdoor room had no window, the place to keep my things, the bunk beds had no ladders and no guard rails to keep sleeping people from falling. The first night I slept in the room a girl fell off the bed and then a second time she fell on top of me while I was trying to sleep.

The place is nice, but the storage space under the beds was terrible. I couldn't close it very well, I had to make so much strength that it gave me blisters in my hands. Besides that, everything was average, the hostel is close to the beach and to downtown, and people were nice, but it could use some maintenance.
