The place is nice, but the storage space under the beds was terrible. I couldn't close it very well, I had to make so much strength that it gave me blisters in my hands. Besides that, everything was average, the hostel is close to the beach and to downtown, and people were nice, but it could use some maintenance.

Definitely, one of the most dirty hostels we stayed. The rooms, the bathrooms, everything was covered in dust, spiderwebs and with stains. The smell in the bathrooms was terrible all the time. The sheets of the rooms are covered in stains. Sorry, but was one of the worst holidays we have.

The staff is very friendly but not trained in any way. We had no light in our windowless bathroom because a thunderswitch kicked the switch. It was not fixed. Good overall experience, though

The hostel is well located, close to the beach, with very good atmosphere, and some people from the staff are so easy going. It´s fantastic the shuttle from/to the bus station, in an special old VW van. It´s possible to cook a barbecue, to do surf classes and horse back riding. The other advantage is the "hamacas paraguayas" where you can lie and see the heaven and reflex.

El Diablo Tranquilo was a great choice for my stay in Uruguay. There is a strong sense of community in the hostel and I felt really welcome and comfortable. There was always someone hanging out in the hammocks on the front porch or chilling on the couches in the lobby, willing to talk or share a beer. Only a 5 min walk to the beach, the location is great! I didn't want to leave! I extended my stay twice (no brainer because you get a discount) and still didn't want to leave, I highly recommend it!

muy mala atención, muy reducido el espacio de los dormis y casi sin ventilación. Falta de higiene en recpecion, cocina y baños. Nos fuimos a otro hostel por esos motivos.

This is THE place to stay in Punta del Diablo. Friendly and helpful staff, great rooms and vibe. Really close to the beach. I stayed here for 24 nights (yes, 24) and enjoyed all of them :) It was reeeaally hard to leave! Thanks everyone at El Diablo Tranquilo for the good time.

It was a nice stay, but someone took my cellphone, they rob it. It was nice, but it could be better.

The rooms were extremely overprized. For the busy season they have spare rooms out of concrete with bunks of wood that didn´t had any treatment. Lots of splinters, no possibility to climb in there and when I wished to change beds they made a really bg problem about it. They have a cancellation policy which is bizar and extremely overprized as well. Breakfast was simple.

Ok, here we go. If you are looking for some proper hostel adventure, go to this place. If you are looking for clean facilities (like bathroom, kitchen and dorms), safe lockers, kitchen utilities, rooms with fresh air and not the least important: value for money, than just look further. With prices for a bed in a 8 bed dorm up to 48USD this place idiotely expensive. Altough the atmosphere amongst guests and the friendly staff is very good, I wouldn´t recommend this place to anyone.

Very easy-going and relaxed, great for a beach vacation. However, the price is insane for what you get and the Lonely Planet review appears to be a little overrated.

Nice hostel, expensive for what it is. Breakfast was mediocre, and not improved by the flies crawling all over everything, don't blame the hostel for the flies, but maybe a cloth or cover on the fruit and bread? Good location, but far from the bus station. Check with the hostel about getting picked up, or the shuttle into town, and don't be fooled by the directions in the confirmation email which gave me the impression the hostel is a casual stroll from the bus station rather than a 40 min trek

Not worth the value of $35USD/bed in the 5 bed dorm. Bunk beds are basic with no ladders or dividers for the top bunks. I was woken up by another backpackers kick.

If a friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere and good location are enough for you, this is ok. But you can get something very better for the money. By $100 per day we were put in a tiny double room without windows, with uncomfortably beds, very dirty (sand in the bed, pillows filled with mold, hair in the bed and on the floor), and in the company of spiders. This is the price of a suite with cable tv, air conditioning in a good hotel with full service, then the price charged makes no sense to me.

Great common area, good wifi, nice kitchen, good common PC, cool atmosphere, most of the staff are amazing! BUT beds are awful, no preasure in the shower and rooms out of the main buildind are just terrible, dirty, small, hand made beds, no lockers, no windows and this is for more than $30 for bed!

the place is nice on the outside , the common areas are not that bad , it looks like they where nice on the start but they havent invest dime on it since then. the rooms where terrible, the beds where very unconfortable ,there where no lockers and we had NO WINDOWs!! SO IT GOT REALLY STUFFY! the bathrooms where dirty and smelled... the staff rotates so they seemed lost most of the time. i would never recommend this place! it actually made me wanna leave punta del diablo.
