We had a wonderful experience at El Galope. It is a relaxing place and professionally run establishment - very clean and the home cooked meals are plentiful and delicious. Monica and Miguel are always there to help but also give you space to relax. Miguel was also very patient with our non-existent horse riding skills. We enjoyed our 3 nights at El Galope. Thanks Monica and Miguel!

A nice place run by a hospitable couple. But everything was bit on the expensive side, beer 7usd/ basic meal 18 usd etc

I absolutely loved my stay at El Galope. The perfect break from the busy city of Buenos Aires, being in the beautiful countryside with no wifi access was bliss. Monica and Miguel are lovely hosts, helpful, friendly, and make you feel very at home. Sitting for dinners in the evening makes you feel like part of a big family. The horse riding was great, and the nearby beach. If travelling alone, I would advise to book early as dorm rooms are limited and booking a private meant paying for 2.

We loved spending the night here! Miguel and Monica were so friendly and easy going, as were the other guests. We highly recommend to anyone traveling in Uruguay!

Lovely setting in farming area, easily accessible from Colonia. Genuine and very helpful hosts really make this place what it is. The food was excellent, and they catered for our needs/likes. Horse riding was perfect, Miguel is a fantastic instructor. Loved the fact this place has no wifi, provides the real break you're looking for!!

We stayed in El Galope for 2 nights and Overall we had a fantastic stay. The owners Miguel & Monica were very friendly and welcoming. The food, horse riding and relaxing with the dogs in the garden was great. Our only issue was we couldn't stay for longer.

The food is very simple, quite cheap and not enough! Not much to do and little (expensive) possibilities of transportation to otter places. We expected more from a stay at 'an estancia'

Hello, We prepare our meals with good natural products from our farm or from sorrounding farms an 99% of our guests love it. We know that 100% of our guests cann be satisfied. It is true that we are 6 km. away from town, but we go there everyday and offer guests a ride free of charge. What you can see and experience at El Galope is the lifestyle of people who live in the countryside. If you were looking for the luxury of an expensive "estancia" for tourists, this is not the place.

Lovely and affordable estancia with the most devoted and caring owners. The main attractions are the well-trained horses, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much freedom we were given, regarding speed and control, and how much I learned from it. Though the remote location is a positive, we hadn't really prepared, and got hungry during the day. We bought some fruit from the farm to compensate, but it's an idea to bring some easy-made lunch. Thank you for a great time, from Erlend & Guro

Beautiful place and a good opportunity to get the estancia experience without paying the full price of a traditional one. The owners are involved and helpful people with beautiful stories about Uruguay and its fascinating politics. We had an asado one day and took horse riding class the other day, both were well taken care of with extra personal touches like a home made salad and sauce for the asado and a personalised riding trip. All in all worth it, though still quit pricy.

Such a great experience :) If you want to see the real Uruguay, you found it. It's a tranquil place with activities like horseback riding and the dinners are great. Best meat so far! Miguel and Monica were so nice and welcoming that i didn't feel like leaving this paradise place. One of the highlights on our 7 months South America travel.

Providing bread as the only food for breakfast is not substantial enough for a meal. El Galope should focus on adding something more considerable to the breakfast menu. When we were at the hostel there were empty rooms that were available that would've been considered an upgrade to the room we were staying. 99% of the bed and breakfasts we've stayed in (in the past) would've upgraded us to the nicer room. Sink in the kitchen does not provide hot water (how do dishes ever get clean)?

El Galope was a welcoming respite from city travel. We truly enjoyed our brief stay and wish it had been longer.
