this place was amazing, more of a boutique hotel than a hostel. the owner cooked us a really nice meal & picked out a brilliant bottle of Uruguayan red to go with, it was a bit on the expensive side, but as it was a 30th b'day we didn't mind. we chatted with the owner that evening, but he gave us space while we ate. we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the peace of the farm & to try out the sauna! it's a great place to stay between montevideo and colonia. as it's a farm there are dogs,

It is Mord bring part of a family rather than staying in a hostel. Thanks a lot for this great time. The meals were out of question.

Thank you so much for your comment and rating. Welcoming guests home is like sharing with family or firends for us. That's why we enjoy it and becomes a unique experience for us too. Cheers

I loved my stay here. The owners Monica and Miguel are friendly and welcome you to their authentic country home. I had local cheese fondu for dinner, and the horse ride (extra cost, but worth it) was fun because they horses are very responsive and well trained, but aren't mechanical trail riding horses. There isn't wifi or the boatload of typical hostel facilities, but you don't need them, if you're looking for a country escape. Highly recommend.

This is a wonderful cozy ranch that is more of a fancy bed and breakfast then a hostel. It you like horses you must go here, and even if you don´t you will enjoy the atmosphere. Great food, wonderful staff, and a beautiful area. It does take a little bit of effort to get here from Colonia, but they outline how to get there perfectly and will have a taxi waiting for you at the bus stop. Dont let the commute stop you from going here. Highly reccomend.

Absolutely brilliant! Miguel and Monica were great hosts, very friendly and interesting. The horse ride was a lot of fun, with very calm, well trained and responsive horses. The accommodation was lovely, peaceful and homely, and Monica's meals were delicious. Very easy to get to, and all for a decent price. Highly recommended!

El Galope is a charming and quaint horse ranch about an hour outside of Colonia. We arrived at the Valdense bus terminal and got into the taxi arranged by the owners, who drove us 10 to the hostel. The hosts explained everything to do during our stay. Breakfast is free and lunch and dinner are prepared for $10-20, depending on the meal. You can also purchase beer, amazing wine and other drinks for a reasonable price. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean with nice bedding for a good sleep.
