We stayed in El Galope for 2 nights and Overall we had a fantastic stay. The owners Miguel & Monica were very friendly and welcoming. The food, horse riding and relaxing with the dogs in the garden was great. Our only issue was we couldn't stay for longer.

The food is very simple, quite cheap and not enough! Not much to do and little (expensive) possibilities of transportation to otter places. We expected more from a stay at 'an estancia'

Lovely and affordable estancia with the most devoted and caring owners. The main attractions are the well-trained horses, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much freedom we were given, regarding speed and control, and how much I learned from it. Though the remote location is a positive, we hadn't really prepared, and got hungry during the day. We bought some fruit from the farm to compensate, but it's an idea to bring some easy-made lunch. Thank you for a great time, from Erlend & Guro

Such a great experience :) If you want to see the real Uruguay, you found it. It's a tranquil place with activities like horseback riding and the dinners are great. Best meat so far! Miguel and Monica were so nice and welcoming that i didn't feel like leaving this paradise place. One of the highlights on our 7 months South America travel.

Providing bread as the only food for breakfast is not substantial enough for a meal. El Galope should focus on adding something more considerable to the breakfast menu. When we were at the hostel there were empty rooms that were available that would've been considered an upgrade to the room we were staying. 99% of the bed and breakfasts we've stayed in (in the past) would've upgraded us to the nicer room. Sink in the kitchen does not provide hot water (how do dishes ever get clean)?

El Galope was a welcoming respite from city travel. We truly enjoyed our brief stay and wish it had been longer.

this place was amazing, more of a boutique hotel than a hostel. the owner cooked us a really nice meal & picked out a brilliant bottle of Uruguayan red to go with, it was a bit on the expensive side, but as it was a 30th b'day we didn't mind. we chatted with the owner that evening, but he gave us space while we ate. we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the peace of the farm & to try out the sauna! it's a great place to stay between montevideo and colonia. as it's a farm there are dogs,
