Carmen is delightful! She treats each guest individually, getting to know them and becoming friends! She makes delicous breakfasts, (the best I had on my 15-day Mexico trip) and is very kind and respectful. The location is s 20 minutes walk from the main center on Guanajuato, but it's nice to get out of the main part, and the walk really isn't that bad. Taxi's take a few minutes to get to the town center if you don't want to walk.

Carmen and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our rooms were very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and we had a nice little patio attached to one of the rooms. Clean towels and shampoo/body wash were provided. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and filling and we met some great people during our stay. It's about a 15 minute walk to downtown and 5 minutes from a little market. Definitely recommend!

Our stay was marked by the warmth and kindness of the owner. She was very helpful and made us feel like at home. It was unlike any hostel we have ever stayed at. We took our trip the first 2 weeks of August 2011 and visted 4 other hostel. None rose to the level of Carmelita's Hogar. It is truly her home and she sets you up like a guest in it not just a customer. She raises the standard of hosteling in Mexico to another level. Even though we had other options we returned prior to leaving Mx.
