El Hostal is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in, anywhere. You really get hotel service - clean linens, free towels, fantastic free breakfast, hot showers - for hostel prices. Also, the staff are fantastic, friendly, and extremely helpful in all respects. I would very highly reccomend this hostel to anyone staying in Antigua on a budget.

Showers were roomy and water was hot. The only public area was a small courtyard, but the TV was blaring both nights I was there, and the people using that area, including myself, were reading. Nobody was watching TV. Breakfast was included in the price of the stay and was very good - served restaurant style - they brought it to your table. Buck beds were a little wobbly and squeaky. Staff was very friendly.

Fantastic hostel & one of the best I've stayed in! Delicious breakfast, fast wifi, comfy beds, friendly & helpful staff. The hostel was extremely clean & the cleanest I've stayed in, in Central America.

Great hostel for good price. Atmosphere is more chill so if you are looking to party this may not be the place for you. The hot showers were a treat and breakfast (which is included) was amazing. Only downfall with that is breakfast is served from 730-1030am which meant we missed it a few times as our day started earlier than that. Overall, great place. Highly recommended.

I've stayed here two different weekends and have to say it is among the very very best of hostels. Not only is it exceptionally clean, but the breakfast is the best I've had in any hostel in any country (including all of Europe). The only single point against this place is that it is located on a street across from two bars with live music. If you happen to stay in the 10 room dorm you'll be right on the street and able to clearly hear the live music.

Nice environment, clean and very good breakfast included. More expensive than other hostels but worth it if you are looking for relaxing time.

Amazing place. Only recommendation I have is to not stay in the rooms next to the street. I've stayed here twice and the first time bar music played across the street until 1am. the second time I was in room six near the kitchen and things were super quiet.

Nice hostel. Friendly staff and clean rooms and bathrooms. The private double was a little warm and stuffy. The bar next door was a bit loud too. But overall i would recommend this place to others.

El Hostal is very comfortable. In-room wifi is always a fantastic option for us. The hostel is really cute, centered around the courtyard. Perhaps it is a little overpriced for the average backpacker and therefore you might find a little less ambiance there than other places. But we had a really relaxing time and it a very clean environment. The breakfast is indeed impeccable. You can read our full review with photos at PlanetVagabond.com.

The staff were fabulous - we left before breakfast was served, but they made us sandwiches to take with us the night before.

Sweet little hostel with a lovely courtyard, polite and helpful staff, an excellent breakfast thrown in and the cheapest deals on the tourist shuttles. Stayed here a second time because I liked it lots. Only neg is that no rooms have private bathrooms, but the shared ones are big and clean.
