Awesome breakfast. Right across from Cafe Nose which is a cool bar at night...it makes up for the fact that the quiet hours in the hostel are at 930 p.m. even on weekends. I would definitely stay here again. It's not a party hostel, but the people you meet are way better than the ones you'd meet at those types of hostels.

The free breakfast here is amazing! Even if u don't want to sleep here, just book anyway for the breakfasts! They have a menu of omelets and other breakfast options! A menu! Then they cook it to order in their kitchen and it comes out about 10 mins later! They have a decent bar with wine, beer, and hard liquor that's open 4p-8p. They start shutting down lobby lights, discouraging talking at 8p and by 10p, the lobby is dark and the hostel is silent. Music across street can b heard, but pleasant.

The best hostel I've stayed at so far in Guatemala. We stayed here for 5 nights, left to explore Guatemala and were very content with a layover night back in Antigua just so we could stay here again. Beds are comfy. Actually hot showers. Clean towels included. Great happy hour and place to lounge during the day. Breakfast included is sooo good (I recommend the chile rellano!!). The front 10 person dorm is on the street and a bit loud at night because it's across from cafe no se (great bar)

Very nice hostel with delicious breakfast. Hot showers do not always work and the booking of my airport shuttle did not work the way I had booked it.

The best hostel I have yet to stay at. Excellent staff, delicious complimentary breakfast, good music playing, large lockers to fit your whole backpack in, near to the center, good happy hour prices. The over all vibe is awesome, felt safe always. Very clean and hot hot showers! I would definitely recommend to stay here when in Antigua. Some awesome restaurants on the same street and cafe no se, a bar/ cafe with live music.

Wonderful place and very impressive breakfast. One of the cleanest hostels I've stayed in in Latin America. Quiet at night and nice people.

We very much enjoyed our stay at El Hostel. The staff was most helpful in organizing transportation to Panajachel and we returned for an extra night. The breakfasts and the smoothies are great.

Day workers are nice. All rooms are open to the general population and to the public. There is really no night security and anyone can come in. If you are returning late at night someone will let you in but you do not have to prove you are staying there and you can bring in whoever you wish. We were staying in a 10-bed mixed dorm and one of the guys brought back a female from outside.

Excellent Breakfast

We stayed over Christmas, and the atmosphere was very festive. The staff served us a special Christmas breakfast, which was great. They help you book shuttles and tours, the water refill is 1Q, and the beers during happy hour are 2/20Q. The only down part was I couldn't get any hot water pressure in the women's shower; it was fine in the men's.

Cute hostel, a little further away from the main square. Great backpacker vibe, helpful staff and amazing breakfasts.

Dieter and Eva at Casa Tikal are extremely friendly and helpful. They have a huge amount of experience in Tikal, Dieter having contributed to a book about its architecture and astronomy. They are more than willing to pass on this information in English, German or Spanish. They also have close contacts in travel agencies and can book your Tikal trip and transport out of Flores over the phone. Note: Casa Tikal is not on Flores island but you can get there in 5 minutes by tuk-tuk.

The area is very noisy on weekends because of a bar that plays loud guitar music on weekends. You will also not have a chance to sleep in even if you have a single; that is if you are easily awakened by blenders, people talking over breakfast and cooking (I was so exhausted that I managed to only half-wake up to these sounds, which quieted closer to 11am). The hostel is very nice, has good fast internet and is well known in town. The staff are very helpful. I would stay here again :)

Great location, facilities and services aside, what really makes this hostel special is the staff. Always friendly, happy and keen to help, whether it's booking transport, recommending restaurants or practising Spanish. A big thanks to them all!

my only complaint is with those who share a dormitory but act as if the space is theirs to turn on lights and/or carry on loud conversations when others are sleeping. This is not unique to this hostel.

Excellent, cosy and tidy hostel. Free breakfast is really good too and the hot showers are a rare thing. One of the best hostels I've stayed in Central America..

This was a great hostel! Antigua is a small town and this hostel is located only a few blocks away from the main square as well as the market. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are happy to help arrange transport to/from the airport as well as other spots you might want to visit. I'd highly recommend staying here on your trip to Antigua.
