This Hostel has the potential to be so much more but its crazy ideas restrict that. The social areas are closed down from 10pm even though they are no where near the bedrooms. You are forbidden to use the kitchen after 10. Its a place where you cant bring in alcohol from outside. The wifi is incredibly slow, to the point of having none. The was one amazing memeber of staff a brazilian Girl.
Most of the staff was nice except one guy who was very aggressive on having us throw out an entire bottle of alcohol that we brought from outside. We asked if we could put it away, but he heavily persisted on having it finish it outside or throw it away. I thought this was a bit childish. Also the wifi is by far the worst. It didn't work in any of the rooms, only the lobby and even then it only worked at an extremely slow speed. However, the kitchen is big and nice and the location is just prime
I've stayed in several el misti hostels around Rio and this is by far the best one in terms of well, everything. It's spacious, has a great large kitchen, the bathrooms are big and modern and CLEAN, and the bunk beds are comfortable. Staff are excellent as well. The location in great - 5 minute walk to Leme beach (which is in the far end of Copacabana), which is also in my opinion the best part because it's the least crowded and cleanest part of the beach! And oh.. The price is unbeatable.
Excellent Value for money! great buffet breakfast, location & staff.
Lots of electricity problems. Not the friendliest hostels I have stayed in but decent. Very clean and secure! Excellent prices and hot showers!

Unfortunately the hostel is located in a dodgy area - dont walk around by yourself after dark. The rooms are smallish and have 3 beds on top of each other. At least there are lockers. My "free" airport pick up never showed and I had to pay for a taxi (return to the airport was free though). The breakfast buffet is the best I have had in a hostel.
