Nice location, staff was ok... Had BedBugs in my mattress.... And beds are small. Crowded room, tiny showers. Aircon working like a fan not cooling at all

The location of the hostel was the best part for me. In a safe area, just next to the metro station and above Copacabana coast. The worst part was of course the room. 8 beds in a room for 4 maximum (better 2)??? 2 small windows with bars, dirty mattresses and pillows. Friday and Saturday 8 people in this room with air only by the freezing air-condition. Just imagine...Is this a prison cell or a hostel\'s dorm? Moreover, the 2 bathrooms per floor with 4 rooms with 40 people app. were tiny. Common area

EL hostel solo sirve para ir de joda, los cuartos son claustrofobicos de los chicos que son!!! el lugar para estar es super chico, sin ventana, te ahogas, un desastre!!!!. La ubicación esta buena.

I was there during carnival so it seemed a bt expensive for what you got but that´s just the season i guess. Normally i´d have said a pretty decent hostel although the staff didn´t always seem to be that helpful (in that they couldn´t be not that they didn´t try). They do pretty decent dinners but the chef takes over most of the kithen to do it which is a bit of a nightmare and the staff seem to have more food storage areas than guests! But right near Copacabanna a a fun place to stay!

Overall had a great time in Rio. El misti rio got the job done. Rooms are small/smelly but all you do is sleep there. Large personal lockers to store everything. Breakfast is fine. Best part was the common room...great place to meet people and to hang out!!!! staff was okay....somewhat helpful but didnt go out of there way or overly friendly. some ppl didnt like them at all. I would stay here again though....the other travelers made the stay for me!

In some ways it's very clear that El Misti is a business, created to make money - and for me that's a minus. (e.g. you pay to use the computer). On the other hand, the location is great, and since it's a big hostel it's very easy to meet other people, since there are a lot of them! And every night we all went out together, which was great. I made great friends in this hostel, and can definitely recommend it.

It was alright - it's very clean, the kitchen is big (although you can't use it between 7-9, 'cause the hostel's chef is using it), the breakfast is okay and there's free wifi. The thing is that the place lacks character - it's a very big and impersonal place. The worst part, though, was the silent time... At 10 pm! And the staff would actually tell you to stay quiet.. It was like being a teenager! At least there weren't curfews. Oh, and there was only one fridge for the 60 people there...

We did NOT get clean sheets when we got there. None of the staff cared and they made us sleep on a dirty bed without sheets. no apologizes by anyone. the place itself is way too crowded, 20 beds less would improve the atmosphere a lot. also had to pay for internet, which had not happened in any other hostel in brazil. no luggage storage. worst place ever! not worse the money!

The 15 bed dorm was too stuffy as the air conditioner was not working. All round a dark and depressing feel. Breakfast was good though.

For the amount of people at the hostel the washroom/bathroom was very clean and did not smell. I was on the bottom bunk and the bed did not move when the top bunk moved. But the bottom bunk was a little cramped. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The guy in the office was very knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. He doesn\'t really speak up but he knows everything at the hostel. The guys behind the counter were very nice, great customer service!!

Stayed here over carnival, the dorms are the smallest that i have ever stayed in, if there are heaps of people in there you can't even move. The staff were friendly but it really needs a tv in the kitchen if you want to chill, they organised a party for all the El Misti's and it was really good, so a big thumbs up for that.
