Found the staff had little time to assist with local knowlege support. Pick up from airport that we had booked and confirmed with the hostel well in advance didnīt turn up, after chasing hostel on phone were told driver was not working that night. Conversations with others in hostel had had similar experiences. Breakfast was good and location was handy between city and beaches.

Bit of a random hostel. The staff were welcoming. The fellow guests seemed to be people staying in Rio for a long time. Triple bunks, bit crowded, and whilst clean - back to basics. It is fine if its the only thing available in Rio, but there are better options - Mango Tree/Lemon Spirit being examples that are closer to the beaches and in a better area. It felt very much like we were being sold things all the time. However, people have remarked on the authenticity of the chef/environment.

The place in rio is the best... is not a touristic zone, but is close to copacabana and ipanema. the view is the best, the sugar loaf just in front... the beach is safe. Good breakfast, good atention... the bad thing... too many peolple sometimes.... but i prefer this place thna any other in rio.

El Misti is in a good location and does a great breakfast. It makes a good home from home and cakes are a nice touch! However, we were disappointed in our room which was damp and smelled badly and our pre-arranged pick up was not waiting for us at the airport which wasn't what we needed after a 22 hour day of travelling. It was a shame as it gave us a negative impression when the hostel otherwise has all the ingredients to be a great place to stay.
