My room was very basic, 3 beds high in a very small room and I couldn't find any power sockets. My airport transfer didn't turn up and it was complicated to resolve. However on the whole the staff were helpful with other problems and the breakfast was good for the price.

Staff Gladys & Nicolas very helpful. Windows didn´t close. Walls dirty. Tiny dining area mixed with smoking area. Location great. Free wifi.

The hostel was a lot better a few years ago. Now everyone has to be quiet after 10 in the evening - so its no fun staying in the hostel at the evening. There are just argentinians working there (which is not a problem) BUT they dont seem to care much about their guest. We didnt get asked anything nor advised to do anything I saw other travellers that felt a bit lost and not very welcomed by the staff. Rooms are small, no cocktails get micxed even though it said so on the wall.

Great hostel. If you are a first or returning visitor to Rio this is a great hostel for its location. Great base for sightseeing as Botafogo is bang in the axis of RIo - 15 mins from the beach by metro/bus and the same from Centro/Lapa or sugar loaf/christ The hostel is a great old mansion. Always clean. rooms are 3 bunks high and a little small but its all good. Staff are mixed - ladies better than the blokes who werent that helpful. paying for internet wasnt great Would stay again.

The staff at the hostel are amazingly helpful and go out of there way to help you arrange what to do in Rio and your future travel. The hostel itself was very friendly and the communal areas great with a good atmosphere. Its well situated in rio, near to a supermarket, and some bars and resturants. There are lots of bus stops very close to get to every other part of rio.The one downside is the indredibly cramped rooms, with no room for more then one person to be standing and no room for luggage

Pros: generally v helpful staff, downstairs area is very nice, great meals each night be in house chef, very friendly and easy to chat to people. Cons: the smallest 6 person dorm room I have stayed in in over 7 months travelling, 9 person dorm room is adjacent, no door only doorframe, everybody passes through, also open hole in room through to other dorm room. Result not a hostel to stay in if you want to sleep, but hey this is rio who wants to sleep!

I enjoyed staying at this hostel, very much. I stayed with a friend and we would stay again in this hostel. The included breakfast was pretty nice and the staff is always willing to help you out in anything you need. The only thing that should be improved is the cleanliness. I noticed some details that would not be comfortable for some people.

Great Hostel, good people, good atmosphere. Plenty of showers, food cooked onsite everynight with full access to the kitchen facilities. Bar onsite, fairly priced too compared to the rest of Botafogo; cheaper than Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Everywhere is within easy reach as the metro is 2 minutes walk away. Transfers available and the staff, who all speak English, Portuguese and Spanish are all very friendly. Would definitely recommend and will stay again when I return to Rio.

The staff was always friendly and very helpful. I really liked the dinner in the evening (cooked by the staff, had to be paid, but the price was always better than in the local restaurants). All together it was a very nice time there. I met a lot of people from all over the world.

Most of the staff is nice, breakfast is good, location is safe and near to restaurants, supermarkets, malls, banks, currency exchange, bus stops and metro stations, have the Botafogo beach crossing the street, and really close by bus to other touristic places, it's nice, I met really cool people there.
