My stay at El Misti was great! The place is really nice, and the guest house has the character and the architecture of a traditionnal bresilian house, it's cosy! The dormitories are good, you have lockers under the beds, it's clean. The breakfast is handmade and tasty! But the best thing was the atmosphere: I met a lot of people, the staff is amazing and can help you in anything you need (plan your trip, book tours, choose your next hostel, the places to party....). There is really nice BBQ too!

We had a nice time in the hostel. We got good advices for trips and serveral kinds of help from the staff, thank you! Nearly everything was nice. Only the cleanliness of the bathrooms can be better. But that is a problem of most hostels... Thank you for the great time in Rio!

Too many beds in each room. Spaces that should be for three beds had six instead. It can be noisy after hours as well. Other than that location is great and easy access to most of the rest of the city.

Hot shower in just two of the five bathrooms so it could take a long time to get to your turn for a hot shower. Too crowded at times but really good location, at walking distance to a metro station, Sugar Loaf and a big mall with ATMs nearby.

Good hostel, lots of character & way above average food. Location acceptable, feels safe & is walking distance from metro station but there isn't much nearby in terms of entertainment or dining. However, there were a couple of issues that let it down - the airport pick-up and the lack of staff who are always very busy & have little time to help you personally. Our flight was only delayed by half an hour, the driver had gone, and we were forced to pay for a taxi. This seemed to be the norm!

I normally don't expect too much out of hostels but this one was pretty bad. First off it was dirty. The rooms are not cleaned properly and the floors were filthy. Beds were disgusting the mattress was disturbing. Rooms were tiny, they had triple bunks and we had 9 people in a sardine can of a room. 9 people in a small dirty room = smelly. Nowhere to leave bags in the room. The good - nice breakfast, and some of the dinners they put on are cheap and good. Bartender most nights which is great.

A very noisy hostel, playing loud music all day long. At night there is a party IN the hostel every day, as the hostel has its own bar. To loud for my taste.
