One girl from the staff is totally incompetent. We were five and booked 5 beds in 6-bed dorm. At check in she said that they have only 3 beds in 6-bed and 2 in 9-bed dorm, which is cheaper, but she took from us like for 6-bed dorm. Next we found that there are 2 more free beds in 6-bed dorm and no one came for 2 days!!! also she broke a rule - not to sell beer after 23.00 and that's why a lot of people were partying and prevented us from sleeping

As glamorous as a refugee camp. the place is considerably dirty and uncomfortable. clearly unable to receive the amount of persons it does. breakfast is probably the only acceptable item, though the dishes and cups bring you back to the refugee camp ambiance. staff is helpful and plenty of tours and organized events seem to be available. expensive for the level of service provided.

Spent a lovely couple of days there. Beds were great but there wasn't much head room... Breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Good hostel in a good location. Staff were really friendly and very helpful with booking tours and general information. A couple of points triple bunk beds did not work in girls dorms as too high to reach and no locks on doors bit of a safety risk.

This is a pretty OK hostel, the rooms are clean. The bathrooms are average. It was walking distance to the beach and close to transport. If we stayed in Rio again we would probably stay in the Ipanema though. The only thing that was not so good was the transfers, when we arrived at the bus station after traveling over 24hours to get to Brasil we waited over an hour for our pick up to the hostel, then when we left the hostel to meet our bus booking the driver just didn't show up.

Excellent location, unbeatable price for Rio, the staff here are so nice. Stay at this El Misti ( in Rua Silva Castro) there is another one in copacabana but that one is awful. The staff at the Rua Silva Castro location were amazing, dedicated to their job, helpful, and friendly. The atmosphere was excellent, all the guest where nice, loved it! Would stay at this hostel again and again! Excellent breakfast!

The wifi was very bad, the staff members were very rood, anytime I would ask for direction or how to get to a location they seemed very annoyed, there was however one sweet staff member who was from Colombia who was very helpful. One day my friend and I were 5min late for breakfast, they threw the food away rather than give it to us to eat. Awfull horrible place

Nice hostel, but claustrophobic small rooms. For Rio this is normal though... The Misti House has nice location and friendly staff. Nice breakfast.

Very very helpful staff! I had a huge Problem they helped me a Lot. Good Hostel to feel HOME. I was missing an Outside area altough there was One Little for smokers. It Is the only Hostel i had which has a Chef! He cooks exzellent Dinner for only 8 reales ! And he loves his work you can Taste in in the Food. If you Not looking for a Open Air rooftop Or a terrace go there!

Good: the staff is nice, and every evening lot of people sit in the lobby and chat. the sheets pretty clean there and the mattress are comfortable. Bad: i hate to shower there . every 5 second you need to press the bottun so the water keep flowing. quiet annoying.

The rooms were pretty small so could get cramped at times, but good value for the location, and only 5 minutes from the beach. The staff were brilliant, and very very friendly, helping us with any requests. Marcos event took us out to a local samba party in the street one night. Great hostel for meeting other people.

The free shuttle from the airport was a mess. Nobody knew I was coming even though I had written a mail in advance that nobody had read.

I love the vibe in the hostel, they cook big dinners every night for cheaper than you will find in Rio. They have a little bar there with cheap drinks and the bar tender is super helpful and friendly. The only thing I really hated was how they crammed so many people into the rooms, 3 levels bunks and with so many in the room I didnt even have space for my bag in the room and ended up leaving it in the hall way which was annoying. Breakfast was really good too.
