We had an allergy issue on the second day and the owner accomidated us at his hotel location nearby. I can proudly report that the hostel and hotel are excellant places to stay. I will definitely stay here when i return!
Great time here! Nice, airy dorm room with good mattress and warm blankets, followed by tasty breakfast, included. Wonderful staff, and cute kitties playing in the huge yard. Several blocks from the main plaza, but that kept it quiet. Easy walk to bus station and everything else. Recommended.
The hostel is very good and the staff are amazing!! very helpful and makes you feel welcome. Its nice and quiet and relaxing and withing a 5 minute walking distance from the town centre. we actually enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed a few more days!!

Lots of character but very rustic and pretty basic. No hot water, no seat on the toilet and no door on our private bathroom. If you opt for dorms, the toilet appeared to be in an outhouse in the garden. For camping, it would be good but if you're looking for comfort, stay at the new Solar hotel, same owners but more modern and is nearer to the centre of town.
Excellent place to stay, near to atractions, have parking facility, 100% recomended.
El Solar is a quaint B&B set in a beautiful location. The grounds are very nice and well-maintained. The rooms are clean and quiet. The staff was friendly. I'm not sure if the guy just never made breakfast before or was too lazy, but all we got was toast and coffee. Some other reviewers raved about the breakfast, but I guess it just depends on who's awake and preparing the food...?? Anyway, not a huge deal, but kind of lame, as it's touted as a Bed and "breakfast".
I stayed in El Solar's new location just off of the Plaza Mayor. Fantastic location, brand new everything and very friendly staff. There were some things to be tightened up (it was literally the first night of operation) but I highly recommend it.
The staff was fantastic, and the place was clean, comfortable, and really beautiful. There was a problem with our reservation when we arrived the first night, and the staff made an effort to call every hotel in the surrounding vicinity to find us another place to stay. They did, and then we came back to El Solar for our second night and really enjoyed it. The owner is very loving and caring and made wonderful breakfast. Thank you for a great stay!
A lovely place. Four blocks to the plaza, beautiful grounds, friendly, quiet place. Good wireless, nice kitchen and a genuine hug goodbye.
Really cute little place, with a camp ground. Friendly staff, good basic rooms. They have a few cats. Breakfast is arequipas. Villa de Leyva isn't very big, so it's close to everything you need!
Marta is great and very welcoming. She even got up at 6am to make us breakfast before heading out for the day. Rooms are in a lovely old building and the garden is fantastic. we would stay here again!
