Stayed at a couple of El Viajero hostels in Uruguay and both had the same problems. Staff not great, can be hard to get their attention and then to hold it! Both also had a pretty terrible breakfast. The juice is Tang, the coffee/hot chocolate is the cheapest, nastiest stuff on the planet and then theres just bread and more cheap spreads. Seeing as they aren't overly cheap for hostels, it all rubs the wrong way a bit.

Was there in the off-season. Staff did their jobs but were kind of indifferent. Nice TV in the private rooms. Hope you like sugar for breakfast. Overall a decent place.

Punta del este is very quiet in winter but worth to visit if you have time. The hostel is cosy, with fireplace, heat on rooms, bar and a pool table. Staff is also very friendly.

Great setup. Dorms are normal size not large but roomy enough with under bed lockers and each has a large bathroom. Has a large dinning space / lounge and a good sized kitchen and is near enough to both beaches and the bus terminal.

Really nice hostel! It's in the middle of two most famous beaches, Playa Mansa e Playa Brava, near of restaurants, market, stores etc. The enviroment is good, great staff, excelent place to stay in Punta.

Stayed in both a double and a dorm while i was here. Both are excellent value for money. Overall a good place in a reasonable location close to both beaches and the bus station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Kitchen was a good size compared to other hostels i have stayed at recently.

We had a really good stay in this hostel, however we were out of season and nothing was open and not a lot of people about. Wifi is fast, nice clean and friendly Hostal. Short walk to the bus station and beach. Nothing to dislike.

I tried hard to find something to dislike about this hostel because I didn't want to appear panglossian. But my search was in vain. I liked everything about El Viajero Brava Beach -- even to Lucas the hostel cat. Great stay, great bed, great breakfast, great staff, great en-suite bathroom with copious hot water. A splendid place to stay and chill out in the chill-out capital of South America, Punte del Este. I already have marked my dance card to return to this haven for weary travelers.

Excellent bathroom. At night the music was so loud that you could not stay in the living room.

This hostel has a good location, within walking distance of most places. The staff was hit and miss; the girl when we checked it was really sweet and helpful, the girl the following day was less inviting. It was a very laid back atmosphere, but that could have because it was the middle of the week. The facilities were clean. If you just need a place to stay I would recommend it, but if you want more of that "hostel experience" I would go elsewhere.
