Our room was very very noisy. The place was not clean. The sink in the kitcken did not have hot water (no hot water tap). We left early and they would not refund our money. Stay somewhere else!

The staff was nice and I met some wonderful people there, but there are definetely a few problems at El Viajero. Personally, the biggest one for me is the bathrooms. The facilities are old and dirty and wet almost all the time. The rooms are soooo small. And the computer downstairs is slower than my first ever PC. The PC upstairs is ok but was broken for some days. The location is very good, near to everything, but is insecure at night. Two girls were robbed in front of the hostel during my stay

Very thoughtful staff, Great place to stay! The private room is really nice, and some of the walls have paintings and grafittis that give the hostel a cute bohemian style.

We arrived late at night and left early the next morning, and we didn't experience much of the atmosphere. The staff was very nice and helpful. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Good hostel!

With alittle bit of effort it could have been much better. Staff are not really interested in the guests, there was very little social aspect to the hostel and the only computor is incredibly slow. There were no activities that I saw organized. Room was cleaned daily but not well. Beds were quite comfortable.

The staff is very helpful and the hostel is really cozy. The location is also great, in the heart of the old city in Montevideo. Would stay there again for sure!

Staff were excellent! I accidentally left my new canon camera in the locker and left on a ferry to Buenos Aires. After emailing the hostel, the staff was able to find my camera and give it to another girl I met staying at the hostel to bring to Buenos Aires for me. Such honest and helpful staff!

It was clean, had numerous washrooms, 2 kitchens and for the most part quite clean. The dinners offered are tasty and good value. The only thing I didn't like is that it is not in an area that is safe for women to go out after dark alone unless in a large group. Given that dinner is usually eaten after dark, that means we can be stuck to eat at the hostel all the time.

Very nice hostel. Location is great for visiting the city during the day. At night the streets near the hostel are very dangerous. The room was clean (especially the sheets) but the toilet was not that great.

The hostel is good enough on most accounts except these: 1) There are two kitchens. The one on the 1st floor is small and lacks basic equipment. The kitchen on the 2nd floor is spacious but it's closed at night, reserved for use by hostel staff. 2) One night a band played on the roof of the hostel, and then there was a very loud party lasting until 4 am. If you intend to go sightseeing during the day, bear in mind the hostel might decide you can't get any sleep the night before.

The hostel is good. But when I made my book, I ask for a room with 4 beds. When I check in, they put me in a room with 4 beds, but to acess the room next door it was necessary to open the door of the room and croos. And the room next door was for 6 GUESTS! They made a lot of noise at night and this left me and the other guests in a very bad mood.
