Very nice hostel with great staff! Very pretty building and good location. The breakfast was very simple but ok. There were not a lot of bathrooms so in the morning it was a bit busy.

Overall a good hostel. Staff is dedicated, premises are wonderful and everything is spotless. That said, it’s NOT OK (and likely not even legal) to cram six people and a bathroom into a room with no window. Room 2 is dark as a cave and smells like mould. I expect better from a Hostelworld-endorsed hostel.

Received a friendly welcome from the lovely staff, who helped make our stay. Recommend the hostel dinners. Very clean and quietens down after midnight (good for early starts)but the party continues inside if you want to join in.

Clean and fresh painted rooms. If you´re ready to party, this is the place. But, otherwise, if you want to relax and have a laid back stay in Montevideo, probably not a good option. Also, it´s located downtown, which is great for those who are planning to spend more time in the city. But there are not many options of restaurants open at night and the best beaches and parks are a little far away. It depends on what kind of experience you want to have, though. For me, it was not the best option.

Great building however room was above reception and bar so no chance of sleep till everyone went to bed and woke up at 6 by staff rocking up and making noise early. Loved the layout of common rooms etc. 3 showers for 20 plus dorms feared challenges in the morning.

They give you fresh sheets when you check in and you have to make your own bed. Location was right near the old town and breakfast was good

Had a great stay at El Viajero. I had stayed there before, and I would stay there again. Only negative part of my experience is that a girl in my room was cold and turned on the heat, even though it was springtime and we actually needed A/C. I had a hard time sleeping because of that. But that's not the hostel's fault.

Overall a good hostel with nice character. Great atmosphere at the BBQ in the evening. The rooms were not huge, but there was a good kitchen, patio, and the bathrooms were clean.

Nice general setup of the hostel. Friendly staff and at night good Asado for a fair price. Downside was that the room was really humid and a bit smelly independent from the people there. Improvement for breakfast would be some healthy or salty options. There is no fruit/ vegetables. I would also be willing to pay more for that.

The staff - great people! The bathroom in the dorm room was a little weird, it is always wet because of the design of the shower. The breakfast in the morning was good but i've had better. It is sited in a great location, close to anythinf you need.

I think this was one of the best hostels I staying while in Argentina/Uruguay. Very clean, spacious. Nice community room. Staff were very helpful and friendly. And the location is very good. No need for a taxi to and from the dock or bus station or all the major touristy sites in the area.

Only stayed for one night and one proper day as Colonia is small, had a pleasant night - missed out on the hostel asado as we came too late! The hostel staff had to work the air con in our room rather than leave us the remote, which was strange.

Nice little place to stay. Lockers under beds are a bit annoying but all in all not a bad hostel.
